Remstar Auto 8-14, gets to 14 and doesnt go back down.

Post by dcpap » Tue Oct 03, 2006 4:17 am

Hi brother has new Remstar Auto Cflex.; apprarently set 8-14, but we dont know mode.
I now have the setting instructions (thanks to you), and I might be able to figure this out when I get to the machine in a couple of days.
But, my brother says that it works its way up to 13 (or so) and will not go back to 8 until he turns it off, even if he is awake or takes his mask off.
Is this a wrong mode or setting or and indicator of something?
Thank you.

Could be several reasons.....
Maybe he needs the pressure.
Could be something wrong in the configuration;
Could be a flow sensor (hardware problem).
Air leakage.

I would suggest writing down the settings as you go through his machine and then you might be able to tell whether it's a configuration setting. Does he have the Encore Pro software and card reader?

Best wishes,

Den

Another thought: Is it set to a straight CPAP mode and the ramp starts at 8 then when gets to 13-14 stays at that pressure?

sounds like the machine is not setup correctly.

or he snores which can cause the machine to go to Max. pressure setting.

Snoredog, or anyone
Remstar Auto in one of the Auto modes. (no ramp)
Starts at 8, but gets up to 14 AND doesn't go back down even:
when awake and breathing calmly thru mask, or
when awake and Mask off and held in hand.
Isn't it supposed to Auto back to the lower pressure????
"...or he snores....", Why would snoring (when he was asleep, make it stay at 14 when he is awake and breathing reasonably.
Thanks, for your efforts.

dcpap - it doesn't automatically go back to a lower pressure when awake, no. You need to identify the reason it's staying at 14 - either that's the pressure he needs to be at (or an even higher one), or there are significant leaks present that are making it raise the pressure to compensate. What are his leak stats like?

The way we breath when asleep and the way we breath when awake are two different animals. Depth and volume wise.
