RemstarM series confusion

Post by SeattleJen » Sun Oct 01, 2006 12:13 am

I was at apria today picking up my new M series cpap and left wondering if I really got a new machine. When the therapist plugged my cpap in it shows the number 300 on the screen for a number of seconds. the odd thing is that when you turn it on and off and on again the 300 is not there... this only happens when you unplug and plug it back in.

Any ideas why? She said if this turned out to be a used machine I should return it for a new one but she didn't know what it meant... said her supervisor set it up and that it was new.

Hold the left and right < > buttons down while plugging in the machine, it will display the total hours on the machine (after several beeps). If it is new it should only have a few hours on it. You are also in the setup mode after doing that, so you will need to hit the On/Off button to exit it.

I think it is used.

When I plug in either of my Respironics machines (non M model) the first thing that comes up is the total machine hours.

People on this forum have told me in the past that the current use hours can be reset but not those initial hours on the screen. If it is the same for M it is used.

At 5 hours per day that is 60 days (2 months) of someone else using that machine.

When I picked up my machine (non M) from the DME it was already plugged in. I unplugged and replugged right there and the initial reading was 0.0

I would venture to say that you got a used machine take it back and demand new what you are being charged for.

Now I am even more confused!

I decided to read through the instructions that came with the machine last night... to me it seems to be saying that the 300 has something to do with the version of the software.

So last night I used the machine for 7.4 hours... when I try unplugging and replugging it in it still says 300 - if it was used woudn't you think it would say 307? I will check again tomorrow!

More thoughts?

You want to find out how many blower hours (i.e., the total time the machine has been used) are on your machine.

As guest stated above, unplug the machine and then, while holding down both the left and right arrow keys, plug the machine back in. When you hear two beeps, release the two arrow keys. Within a few seconds, the LCD will display a symbol that looks like an unlatched lock (right next to the top of the triangular Respironics symbol).

After you see that symbol, keep entering the right arrow key. Eventually, you'll come to a screen that shows blower hours. That's the total number of hours your APA has been used.

Good luck.
