Rookie CPAP user, Day 2
Rookie CPAP user, Day 2
I'm very motivated to make this work as best it can, as I haven't had restfull sleep for the last 30+ years. First night went well, second nite had pulled apart mask & couldn't figure out how to put back together. I really would like to hear some success stories! I believe that this has been the missing link for me for quite awhile. Please share w/ a beginner! Tx.
Welcome, Robie! I have eleven days experience on cpap and would give myself a value of 15% improvement. I made one hour on cpap the first night, two the second, four the third, and am getting at least seven good hours a night now. Hang in there!

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

You are not alone, and congratulations on making it through that first night. One night I awoke to find the whole CPAP connected and running and the headgear assembly on my head--just no nasal interface. What's the point, then?
_______________
As you get used to it you will adapt and it will become easier.
One thing that will be helpful is to go to the registration page and add your mask/interface and machine models. That will allow more specific help.
Also, you might want to go to the top of the page, way, way up. The second button is a search button. If you click it and type in the name of your mask/interface AND fix, you may be surprised at what tips and tricks for using that mask of yours you may find.
I like to say that I am experiencing a "subtle but significant difference" from my nearly 6 months of CPAP therapy.
Good wishes. YOU CAN DO IT! And, you may now call yourself, "Hosehead."

I am not sure if you pulled the mask apart while sleeping or to clean it after the first night.
If you were cleaning, I take it apart a little as possible. If you pulled it off in the night, you will get better with that.
Might help to know what your pressure it though. If ramp is set too low and you pushed that it might make you feel like you wanted to pull off the mask.

Good Point
Good point, snoregirl. When I first started I had the Swift for all of 3 weeks. The manual tells the user to take it apart daily for cleaning, and NO ONE does that, apparently. When I was taking mine back in to trade, I had pulled it apart and lost one of the little rings from the end. The RT said, "I haven't had ANYONE else do that." Hey, I just wanted to be sure it was totally clean for the next person, even though I knew it would be cleaned 'professionally'! It was tricky to re-assemble.snoregirl wrote:I am not sure if you pulled the mask apart while sleeping or to clean it after the first night.

So, we need to know what equipment you are using so that we may figure out how best to help you.
Be kinder than necessary; everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Me too - a rookie
Dear Robie
I have completed about 12 daysnot much further down the road.
ONE big bonus for me. My morning blood pressure is down from 150/100 to 125/80 more or less immediately.
The reason I tried the APAP is exactly because of my BP; am very much encouraged. My regret - I did not find this solution 10years ago.

I've had my CPAP for 8 weeks now. I use to have a VERY hard time falling asleep at night, sometimes taking more than an hour and then would wake up every 45 minutes. Obviously I was very tired during the day.
Since my CPAP, I fall asleep within minutes, I sleep much longer, I stay asleep and I sleep deeper, more sound. I actually enjoy going to bed at night.
At first I tugged at the mask, my nares were sore and the air sound in my head bothered me.....but it seems all those issues have resolved. I feel so much more alert during the day and have more energy.
I LOVE my CPAP. Hang in there..........it gets better.
