I have an opportunity to get a PB420E - but no clinicians menu. I checked EBay but nothing there. Can anyone please tell me how to set it for my pressure of 7? as it's an Auto I would need to know what range I should set it to and how to do it. I understand that it can also be used as a straight cpap, so do I have to set that function at 7, & if so how? thank you.
PB420E setting query
I have now been told that you just use the machine at the 4 - 20 setting and it gives you what you need, I realized it did that as it is an Auto cpap but I thought you had to fine tune it more to numbers on either side of, but not too far from, your prescription, which is 7 in my case. anybody know please?
Leaving the range wide open 4-20 is not such a good idea. Some people react with hypopneas to frequent pressure changes, so a narrower range, around yuor prescribed pressure is a better idea.
The 420e can be set with the help of its Silverlining software - you can get that from cpap.com, hosts of this forum, for $99 with all manuals included. If you can at all afford it, do get - it gives great info about how your therapy has been going, and lets you set some things that simply can't be set from the control panel.
PM me if you want the control panel instructions.

there is a special hidden key under the Goodnight insignia (at top of the LCD display), feel around, it will click like the bottom buttons do. You hold it down along with either the LEFT Special function key OR the On/OFF (I can't remember which) button(s) and it puts it in the setup mode, then use other keys to navigate and change values.
it has been a few years since I programmed one of those, (back when that machine first came out). It is not that hard to program. There is just Min. and Max. pressure and 1FL and 2FL.
Personally, I would NOT buy a used 420E unless I knew the exact generation of machine it was or its history and it then it would have to have very low hours (the early generation machines had problems either that or I was just lucky in getting 2 bad ones in a row).
The new M series Remstar Auto w/Cflex is nearly as small and a much better machine in my opinion, much easier to program. You get basic AHI and pressure information right from the LCD display (420E doesn't give you anything).
