Hybrid -- night 2

Post by Arizona-Willie » Sun Sep 17, 2006 3:35 pm

Last night I tried the medium size cushion. The night before I tried the large and < thought > I had the large pillows but discovered I had inadvertently put in the medium.

My numbers were terrible.
Last night I tried the medium cushion and large pillows. My numbers were cut in half!

My nose was somewhat sore this morning. Not used to having pillows shoved against it. Might take some time to get used to.

I had the pillows in the low position.

Tonight I will try the medium cushion and medium pillows to see if that is any better.

Numbers from last night:

Pressure 9.2
Leak .48 L/s
AHI .7.4 < STILL TOO HIGH
AI 1.8
HI 5.6 < STILL ABOVE 5

It takes REALLY tight straps to keep from having cushion leaks. Noisy ones.

" I swear honey .. it's the mask ".

My face, in the morning feels like I still have the mask on due to the pressure required to stop leaks. Not liking that.

Hope I can find a combination that doesn't need the straps so darn tight.

Love the way I can put my head on the pillow. Can even sleep on my stomach by putting an arm under my forehead.

Can't do that with my Activa.

Hope the nasal soreness and face pressure sensations go away in time.

THIS REVIEW NOT PAID FOR BY ANYBODY.

Arizona-Willie,

The first day I tried the Hybrid I almost hit the ceiling when I removed the nasal pillows OUCH every night it got a little better now there is no pain at all so hang in there it will get better.

The original Hybrid headgear is wimpy at best I switched mine with my F&P
Headgear and was able to loosen the straps considerably also I added some padacheeks and now the mask is the loosest fitting one I have. I have tried 3 other FF masks.

I got my first mask for free since then I have bought a backup hybrid.
If you can get this mask to work for you I think you will really like it so keep switching cushions and don't forget the fifth strap is an important adjustment.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body totally worn out and screaming,WOO HOO what a ride!

I've been using a Hybrid (not a free one) since July 9. It was/is a bit
fussy. However, it gives me very good results. Go for the largest pillows
you can fit, and use something to condition your nares. I use Bag Balm.
Others have suggested Ayr Gel, KY Jel, and etc.

I'm not sure one night's worth of 'numbers' mean anything. I have 8 weeks
of CL2/RemStar Auto 'numbers' and 10 weeks of Hybrid/RemStar Auto 'numbers'. The 'numbers' obtained with these two masks vary little.
The 'numbers' swing up and down with either mask. Furthermore, Even though the machine does a credible job
of marking events. I'm sure its inaccuracy could easily be proven by a good sleep lab. After all, didn't a cat playing with a hose cause events to be read?
