For the past month I've been trying various brands and scents, and simply putting some oil saturated tissue paper about one foot below the air intake of my CPAP. I've reach some conclusions, and those are consistent with prior studies on infants, children, and adults.
Have any of you used fragrant oils before and during sleep? Did you think it has any beneficial effect? Any adverse effect on you or your machine?

I've used fragrant oils, on and off, for several years with my Trilogy. I find the scents soothing and help me relax. As far as the machine, nothing untoward has happened. I was concerned that the scents would linger in the filter/machine, but they haven't.

Which has been your favorite brand and scent, and how have you used it? Does it seem to have a beneficial change to your sleep parameters, dreaming, feeling on awakening, etc.?Madalot wrote:I've used fragrant oils, on and off, for several years with my Trilogy. Re: Experimenting with aromatherapy during sleep
My favorite oils are from Bath & Body Works. My favorite is "Sweet Pea" but I fear they are no longer available.
As far as sleep benefits (other than initial relaxation) I really haven't noticed any difference either way. I don't notice anything other than a general feel of relaxation and calm before falling asleep. When I awaken during the night (which I do a LOT) I don't even smell the scent. It's only right before I fall asleep.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

I have been using aromatheraphy for 7 years. It hasn't hurt me or my machine. I use either of the below 2 places for supplies.

They sell a little stand and some pads that you put the oil on. This is placed behind the intake of the machine. It works fine for me.

Thanks. Will finance the tray at 35 cents a month!

Re: Experimenting with aromatherapy during sleep
I use scents on occasion, placing them on a cotton ball, or a felt ball near the air intake. I purchased my essential oils from etsy - both "pure" and some "mixes" that sounded appealing. I haven't really "studied" my results, though.
I have found, thankfully, that putting a little essential oil "mix" of ginger and different mints on my daughter's shirt seems to help her car sickness! We plan on taking the same mix when we go on a cruise this summer, just in case
