What machine is the best to get for consumer accessible data? I have a recommendation for the Philips DreamStation Pro. Is it the best for consumer data? .

resmed airsense 10 autoset, it provides a bit more detailed data than the dreamstation, though the dreamstation has a couple extra things (some of them confusing) that it flags.

The Dreamstation will work fine for you. Any cpap that has data and works with SleepHead is fine. But another point about the Respironics is that you can remove the modem and not be bothered by messages on the LCD screen that the Resmeds generate when you turn the modem off. If you are not in compliance for insurance payment the modem is just a PIA and not needed.

trslp1, what the anonymous one fails to mention, or perhaps fails to grasp, is that the resmeds and respironics, and indeed all brands, behave slightly differently. the resmed is faster to respond to needs, the respironics slower. some people prefer one, some prefer the other.

getting the right pressure with a respironics auto is more critical than a resmed, because the respironics is happy to sit there and do nothing while you have enough apneas to degrade your sleep... whereas the resmed will take action sooner, resulting in better sleep for a not insignificant percentage of users.

If you buy a used machine from someone that works for a DME they will likely reset the serial number so you can use MyAir. If bought from a private person, get them to change the email and name to you before you leave with it. You can make up the name, Joe McApnea, and birthday, you just have to put in something. You never pay for the cellular connection. The 2 week logging is basic data but provides some convenient idea of progress without removing the SD card all the time. The Autosense 10 has a Plus feature that gives out some good data for the night, week, month before you shut it down each morning.

I would bump up the start pressure to 8 if you are used to 10 already. Just be sure to try it all out before bedtime which should be an hour earlier tonite.

Since you have been using cpap at 10 I wouldn't be surprised if you had some air hungry issues with the lower starting pressures. They won't hurt you but you are used to more air moving and you may feel like you are suffocating.

Auto Ramp...it starts at 4 cm and that's really low and it ramps up slowly until 6 cm...or it thinks you are asleep or 30 minutes.
I would seriously consider changing that minimum to 8. Should it be determined that you don't need that much pressure you can go down slowly if the big reduction is uncomfortable.

I doubt you will need or want ramp...I would turn it off or set the starting point higher if you feel like you are suffocating at 4 cm.
Using the ramp to go from 4 to 6 is probably not needed in your case especially since you are used to 10 cm.
Going down a big step may not be comfortable for you.
If it isn't...start that minimum higher.

And another thing..EPR ...it won't work at 4 cm because that's as low as the machine will go.

The other settings should be a good starting point. If you develop any bloating or aerophagia issues and the pressure goes much above the 10...we can talk about options then.

I would turn EPR off. It seems easier to titrate with this "comfort feature" turned off. My guess is you will not need it anyway.

I would leave this alone. The machine will not increase the pressure above the level it senses you need to support good breathing. I have my machine set to 10 - 20. It rarely goes above 14.

There's no urgent need to increase the starting pressure from 6 to 8 based on the AHI numbers alone.

The Clear Airway events dominate the AHI...and more pressure won't fix those.

Now if you just want to increase the pressure simply from a comfort aspect...won't hurt to do it.
It seems that the median wants to be up around 10 anyway.

What we can't see is the details and the data that is gathered that doesn't show up on the machine LCD screen.
Like how the flow limitations could have impacted things and were there any snores or not????

Also need to look at the leak graph...you had a lot of times where you hit above 24 L/min (large leak territory beginning) but we don't know how deep you went or how long you were there.

How much time was spent over 24 L/min red line leak? If it was very much the AHI could maybe be not so accurate.

Clear Airway/Centrals did you have many wake ups during the night? Are they clustered or spread out over the entire night?

In other words...we really need to see the detailed report.

For ResMed machine....on the right side need only these graphs
Events
Flow rate
Pressure or mask pressure...don't need both
Leak
Flow limitation

You can move them around and resize them so that all the graphs are easy to see.

On the left side...hide the calendar and pie chart (Preferences/Appearance tab and remove the check mark for show pie chart)....
this lets the AHI bar graphs and the statistics move up into easy viewing.

i've got the resmed airsense 10 autoset and it has been great.

my prescribed pressure is 11cwp. i use the autoset feature with my minumum at 7cwp. max of 20cwp. it has never gone above 14cwp.

i've had the lowest AHI on nights that i've used the autoset, it's been between .5 and 2.o as the max. my AHI has been highest, up to 5.0 when i just used it in CPAP mode at 11cwp.

i do find that i have to have at least 7cwp as the minimum or i'm not getting enough air.

the first night i used it, i tried a range of 7cwp-15cwp, but i had the ramp on starting at 4cwp and i had a real hard time not gasping for air when i was first starting out. once i turned the ramp off and i start out at 7cwp, it's much better. it doesn't feel like too much pressure to fall asleep to, and i can breathe just fine.

i use a full face mask, either the airfit F20 or the amara view. i just started using the climate line hose and that has really helped my dry mouth. i run the humidifier around 5-7 and the temp on auto. with the climate line hose, i feel like i can breathe a bit easier and my throat feels much better in the am.

if i were you, i'd get a few nights of data recorded and get it into sleepyhead, then follow the instructions up there in the announcements section of the board, and get some screenshots of your data uploaded and posted here. that way folks can have much more data to be able to help you.
