as far as I'm concerned, the AHI chart is worthless, I always turn it off. it doesn't mean anything.

no, it's nothing so magical as that, with your machine, when it logs enough hypopneas or flow limitations in a certain timeframe, it raises pressure, same if it has multiple apneas within a certain amount of time, it'll raise the pressure afterwards, then when you don't have anything happen for a while, it'll start lowering the pressure to get back to whatever you've set the minimum to.

respironics machines are slower to raise pressure, resmeds are quicker. pretty much every brand behaves a bit differently.

thank you. the machine i'm currently using is just something i'm using temporarily until i can have the titration and discuss with doctor/dme what kind of machine i need. i plan on getting an airsense 10 auto or a dreamstation auto

also i wonder if i nasal mask would work, i'll probably get one and try it out. waiting for this doctors visit and insurance to pay for things is painful, but significantly less painful now that i at least have a machine and you guys to help me. <3

I'd recommend a minimum of 8, and a max of anything, (personally I'd just leave the max at default, 20, and collect data. like Pugsy says, it's highly unlikely it'd need to get very high, in which case it doesn't matter anyway.

people are hung up on 'sleeping through the night' but, in reality, that never happens.

in between sleep cycles you're just *barely* asleep, or even awake, normally... just most times it happens, we don't remember.

with the extra disturbance of a mask and possible noises or discomfort, you're more likely to remember the in between times... just don't obsess over it, turn over and go back to sleep

I'm a proponent of the resmeds, they're better engineered inside (in my opinion, after having taken both brands apart), and provide better treatment for many people, though there are folks that prefer the slower behavior of the respironics.

I agree on turning the max up to 20 (as high as it can go), at least for now. You have no clear airway events, so it should not cause a problem. If you starting having such events (at higher pressures), then you should lower the max. If it never goes above 14, having it set at 20 is not bothering you!

Also, please fill in your equipment profile. You seem to have two different machines in your Sleepyhead profile.

Even if you're getting a sore throat at higher pressures, having a higher pressure only when you need it might not have the same effect as a higher pressure the entire night.

Yep. People think that "normal" is lights out, close the eyes and never wake up till time to get up in the morning and that's not "normal". It's normal to wake after REM...sometimes we remember it and sometimes we don't.
Obviously we don't want a gazillion wake ups but to have a handful is actually normal and doesn't necessarily mean that we aren't "normal" or the sleep is "bad".

Or the other side of things is they say they are remembering dreaming again all night and think that's a good thing.
Remembering very many dreams means the sleep is not so great. Not actually remembering dreams is a good thing...it doesn't mean we aren't dreaming..it just means we aren't waking up during or right after one.

I filled out my system info in the profile but for some reason it won't show up when I post.

Also we don't have my mask in the list it's a Fisher and Paykel mask and apparently those are too new or too small a brand to be in our list.

Your PR S1 Pro model 460 is a discontinued machine and the choices in the equipment menu to discontinued items all have broken links and that's why it doesn't show up.

Just manually add it in the comments section of the equipment profile. Once you get your forever machine you can edit and update things.
Just put this in the comments section
PR S1 Pro #460
and we will know what it is.

You can do the same for the mask since it isn't available as a choice.

All the items in the equipment menu section are tied to inventory (past or present) that our forum host cpap.com has had in the past or currently offer. They just haven't ever sold that particular mask so it's not listed as a choice.

absolutely! it's a proven fact that the brain doesn't form memories when sleeping, so dreams fade away very rapidly after they end, so unless you wake up during, or immediately after one, you won't remember it!

something has to actually work in the equipment list, or even the comments won't show, I tried that once, and got nothing.

jwood0087, the option is to put your equipment in your signature.

Done. Can't wait to change to auto tonight to see if it makes a difference.

Too bad they don't allow for "other." Also, they should have a dedicated place in the profile to put one's settings. I put mine in the additional comments. I recommend everyone else do the same.

Despite thinking I slept well last night, I woke up feeling not very rested, still better than without the mask on, but my throat hurts and my graphs are a little questionable.

Also, I don't think I can turn on the auto part in my machine, there is no setting for it in the settings menu it just has auto on and off (which I thought was it), but I don't see a way to switch from CPAP mode to auto.

Anyway here's my graphs, I'm feeling kind of down about it, but on the bright side I am supposed to have my appointment with the doctor tomorrow to go over my results from 2/22's home sleep study.

Auto is a mode...when you go to the clinical setup menu area cpap will be in the "mode" part of the menu.
You have to highlight "cpap" and turn the dial to get the other "mode" options if they are available.
