Not CPAP, but it is sleep related! (Visco Foam Mattresses)

Post by wahooker » Sun Sep 10, 2006 1:08 pm

Hey, Have any of you tried any of the Foam Mattresses similar to Tempurpedic?

We are considering the Bergad Isoform, because It is supposed to be as good as Tempurpedic, but about half the price. (That's according to reviews at epinions.com, not taking the word of a salesman....)

Does anyone have any experience with these types of mattresses, be it those particular brands or any others.

This isn't so much for my apnea as it is for my wife's back, but if it did make a difference in back pain or apnea related stuff, I'd like to know about that too.

We added memory foam to our mattresses a couple of years ago and it is fantastic. You do need to know, however, that there are various "weights" of memory foam, the higher the number, the firmer the foam. We got 3" of 5.3 lb foam and then topped that with 2" of 3 lb foam for that "softer than clouds" feeling. These were both toppers, not a full mattress. I found several local bed stores that make their own memory foam mattresses that use the same high quality material, but charge a great deal less. You might try searching "memory foam" on the internet for some good deals.

Rock and roll had several very educational post about memory foam a year or so ago. He's the one who sells furniture to the furniture stores, so he knows his stuff.

I've also been considering a new mattress and the only drawback I have come across about the memory foam is that it really holds in the body heat and can get to warm for some people. I think that would probably be the case for me, I'm one of those who likes to sleep with a window open. --- BT

It was the heat issue that caused me to replace my Tempurpedic setup after only a couple of months! But, I loved the comfort and support!
If you are not a hot natured person, I whole heartedly recommend testing out a Tempurpedic mattress!

Before being diagnosed with OSA, I thought the reason for my poor quality sleep was my mattress. In my quest for a good night sleep, I found extensive information on the latest mattress materials at memoryfoam.com and although they sell the stuff, there are many other online sites that sell it too ... so shop at will as I do not own stock or have any financial interests with the business.

There are actually several types of bedding materials available. I custom built my mattress using natural latex, memory foam, and foamex layers. You can find the right combination for your individual needs.

As for heat, I have not had any problems and we had 100+ degree temperatures here for most of August ... of course we also have AC which may make a big difference.

Heat in Tempurpedic

Post by Arizona-Willie » Mon Sep 11, 2006 4:40 pm

While researching Tempurpedic I saw comments that people got hot.

I suspected it might be a mental thing. One person says that and a bunch suddenly start feeling hot.

DA BOSS is always complaining she is hot -- no not vanity temperature hot.

So I didn't tell her anything about people complaining about the Tempurpedic feeling hot -- still haven't.

We've been sleeping on the Tempurpedic for a couple of months now and she loves it and has never once complained about being hot, and if anyone would .. she would.

She would be hot sitting in a snow bank eating ice cream .. naked. In Alaska .. In January.

It's all in the mind.
