Resmed Airsense 10 autoset cover instead of water tank

Post by cdestuck » Mon Feb 13, 2017 8:52 pm

o I have the resmed airsense 10 with the water tank for humidity. I choose not to use the water tank and thought I read somewhere that I can remove the tank and there is a cover to cover the right end. I've looked several places and cant find a cover for my unit. Am I wrong and there is no cover or does someplace sell these?

Yes, there is a cap that replaces the water tank saving a couple inches of foot print. It is available from the owner of this site cpap.com. I have one for use during the summer months.

I just got my machine last week, but mine came with both the humidifier and the regular end piece.

I guess I just thought that was normal.

I'm still learning.

So can you use the machine without filling the chamber with water or will the heater hurt the tank? Not sure if you can shut the heater down or does this cover stop the heater from working? Hopefully getting one of these machines soon. Would be sweet if it came with the cover just in case

The humidifier can simply be turned off so that there is no heating of the plate that warms the water.
This can be done with or without water in the chamber.

Me? I am an American military wife living in Germany, so my supplier is German. (We have US military Tricare).

They are great though. They automatically changed out the regular tube for a heated one before I even picked up my machine and they are special ordering me a Small frame for my Dreamwear mask, since they and *their* supplier don't stock them in Small. (I get 2 masks.)

Specifically, you go to the menu and switch Climate Control to Manual. Then go to HUMIDITY and turn it to OFF. This completely shuts off the heating plate as Pugsy indicates. You do need to leave the tank in for the machine to operate however UNLESS you get that side panel. Using the side cover instead of the tank reduces the footprint about an inch and a half.

Interestingly, if you look at the customer reviews at Cpap.com, there are a lot of reasons people get these side covers.

If you use the Cap instead of the Water Chamber, do you need to turn off the humidity and heat settings? Can you still use the Climateline Aire tubing or do you need to use the regular tube?

Thanks

Switch HUMIDITY from AUTO to MANUAL if not on that setting and set humidity to 0.
Seeing and believing are often both wrong. FOW

I am pretty sure you can do that with the AirSense...I can do that with my S9 but I have to have the humidifier plugged in but with the AirSense you aren't removing the humidifier...just covering the water chamber portion with the plate.
The heated hose needs power to heat.
So if I wanted to have heated air in the but not use water at all...I would turn off the heat to my water chamber and leave the chamber empty but I could still adjust the hose air temp.
There is a setting in the setup menu to make humidity and hose temp control totally separate. So you can use the heated hose and have it warm the air and not use the humidity part of things if you don't want to.

For any Respironics users wondering about this...you can't do it with the PR S1...if the heated hose is attached you can't turn the humidity totally off. I assume it's the same way with the DreamStation but I haven't seen a DreamStation to test it.

You can turn the humidity off completely with the Dreamstation with heated hose attached. I'm running mine this way at the moment. I don't recall if I had to do so in the provider menu, but I think I did. In any case, it's at zero, and tube heater is still settable. I have a cold room, so nice to have the air a little heated, even though I'm not using humidity.
