I care about you BB. And I'm afraid that going around and around here isn't going to help your sleep. It just gets you more upset. You have the right to start the thread and to say whatever you wish. I just don't think it's good for you to get worked up about it unless you are bored and it makes you feel better to stir things up. I do think this kind of thread is damaging to the board. It doesn't make sense to a newbie that political bar fights happen among the same people attempting to help them with sleep-breathing issues. As the bar fight expands, the medical-help side of the room shrinks, to my way of seeing it. No one wants fellow-patient help from a bunch of people who are screaming at one another like two sides of a gang fight hoping the other side will die.
I wish you the best of sleep. I trust your judgment on whether this kind of thread helps you get it. But I'm guessing . . .
Have at it kids. But don't come crying to me when someone gets an eye put out.
Thanks, Jeff. I care about you, too.
Again, you make good points, and I'm not dismissing them outright. (And thanks for your good wishes on my current sleeping issues.) I had many literally-sleepless nights after the election, and I'm way too old for that shit. I'm moving in the right direction at this point, getting 5-6 hours of sleep most nights (or early mornings, as the case may be), but I fear I won't be back to a regular schedule until he's impeached. Just too many worries, and my mind won't shut down. (I posted another thread last night with a link to a recent article about election-induced insomnia, so I'm certainly not alone. There's a little comfort in knowing that, but I'd much rather be sleeping normally.)
I realize this kind of topic can be off-putting to a noob who's just looking for help with their treatment on a CPAP forum, but this forum is open to OT topics, even political ones. Granted, OT topics that
aren't political don't prompt the vitriol we're seeing in this one. But the country's as divided as I've ever seen it, and it's not surprising that the division occurs here, too.
FWIW, I'll say to you (and everyone else) what I said in response to a PM I received this morning: Being silent about or just scrolling by the b.s. is more anxiety-inducing for me. Holding it all in just makes it fester and, since I'm a little blue fish in a red state who has to rely on sanity via the telephone from like-minded friends across the country, I've decided to speak out online. I'm finding that doing so on this issue makes me feel better, not worse. I know I'm not likely to change any minds, but I'm not content to just ignore the "alternative facts" anymore.
I'm really appreciative of your concern, Jeff. Truly.
