Amara View connector tube noise

Post by baseten » Sun Jan 29, 2017 9:53 am

I am having trouble with the connector tube to the Amara View mask. It makes a leaking sound, but I cannot feel any air escaping. It's quite loud and resembles a mask leak in sound, but the mask is perfectly sealed. If I move it around, I can eventually get it to stop making the sound, but it starts again when I fall back to sleep and move slightly. I've tried detaching and reattaching it, but that does not solve the problem.

Has anyone else had this problem? How have you solved it? I really like the mask and would like to keep using it.

Thanks.

Are you sure it's not the 02 exhaust hitting the bedding? All masks exhaust air in the area you are describing.

Yes, thank you. I even have tried using a hospital hook so that it is above the bedding.

Unless there is a hole in the hose I don't see how it can be making a noise. If my straps aren't adjusted properly I can get what you are describing - I can hear a leak but can't feel it. If you push the mask gently against your face and the sound stops you need to adjust the straps.

If your problem is the connector tube where it connects to the mask...it's impossible for it to hang above the bedding. It's part of the mask on your face.

I have a View, and the shorty hose you're talking about is fairly noisy, but not too bad. I would check the swivel connection at the end that connects to your main hose. It's possible that that could be leaking I guess. But just in general, that shorty tube, while quite nicely flexible, seem to somewhat amplify the sounds from the machine. You need to keep it away from your head and ears.

Yes, I have this problem.

Initially I thought it was a leak. It stops at certain points of the swivel.

I just wear ear-plugs. That 'fixes' it.

I am just about to retire my old head gear and mask cushion holder. I hope the new one is quieter.

Yes, "Cands." That is exactly what I'm trying to say. It does sound leaking, yet it is not, and it does stop at certain points in the swivel. I'm hoping that connector tube with rubber fittings at both ends might solve the problem.

Hi Cands,

You were right. I tried ear plugs last night, and it did the trick. Love the mask. Thanks for your help. I wouldn't be able to use the mask if you hadn't made that suggestion. I'm very grateful.
