I am a newbie to the forum and to Sleep Apnea. I was diagnosed with complex sleep apnea and have an ASV machine.
I am experience trouble with a hissing sound at the point where the connector to the tube on my mask unit rotates. Is this common or a defect? The hissing sound goes away when I have the connector lined up perfectly perpendicular with my face. Therefore I find myself having to hold the tube in place throughout the night.
Thanks !

Re: Trouble with hissing at point of Mask and Tube Connection
Need to know the mask you are using to be able to try and problem solve.

This is the type of mask I own. I have the 400450.

Thanks. Please put what type of machine, humidifier, and mask you use in your profile. That way, nobody has to jump around to find it.Southerngent1 wrote:This is the type of mask I own. I have the 400450.

Note that most machines on the market have leak compensation, so you needn't worry about the loss of pressure. Since you reported having as ASV machine, it almost certainly has this feature. However, if the "hissing" bothers you, it needs to be addressed.

You can use this link to help you register your equipment. wiki/index.php/Registering_Equipment_in_User_Profile
If after choosing the equipment it doesn't show up just put it in the comment section.
I would also change the title of the thread to Hissing Eson Nasal mask at Tube Connection. That way you may get more input from users of your mask.
You should have intentional venting thru the diffuser but not at the connector. I'm not familiar with your mask to know how the connectors fit. I do know on the F10 that sometimes you can get one side in and not completely click in the 2nd side.

Thanks. I have changed the title of the thread.
Re: Hissing Problem with Eson Mask/Tube Connection
I stopped using my Eson nasal mask because of the loud hiss.
Re: Hissing Problem with Eson Mask/Tube Connection
I just tested my Eson mask by moving the elbow around and trying to detect a change in sound. I did not detect any change in sound. Are you sure it's not really the seal to your face leaking when you move and the act of fixing the hose position resealing everything?
The Eson should be worn kind of loose as compared to other masks, too tight and the seal doesn't work well. Also, I find it very sensitive to facial oil so I wipe mine down with a scent free baby wipe before I put it on, makes all the difference in the world as far as the mask cushion sticking to your face to maintain seal.
