Respiration rates

Post by elfranzen » Tue Dec 27, 2016 5:33 pm

Looking at my Respiration rates in Sleepy head and there are many nights I hit above 40 per min. is this correct? This seems really high for respirations while I am sleeping. My 90% is right around 18-21. For the last 23 days Med is 15.4 95% is 18.4 and max is 50. Let me know your thoughts I just to make sure this is normal to go this high like this.

Thanks

See what is going with the graphs when the 50 is hit, maybe it is a one time spike. Seems almost 2x my usual max. Does it last a long time? Maybe post a graph if you can.

The other numbers seem in line with mine and similar to others I've seen posted, pretty sure. Perhaps the experts can chime in.

It looks like it is a one and done each night. Also i looked up respiration rate of 50 when sleeping and found a bunch of stuff about dogs. Thanks for being helpful.

I tried to add one of the days it goes to 50 not sure if it will work

Ok none of those were helpful. I know what a normal respiratory rate is I was an EMT for 13 years. I didn't know if these sort of spikes were normal like a fluke or something.

Could your mask vents have become obstructed? (re-breathing CO2)

Possibly having a very vivid dream/nightmare could possibly explain an increased breathing rate.

My wife has woken me up before because of really rapid breathing from being killled in a dream. Happens for then I would like but I haven't had ones of those in months. But I could be having smaller episodes. It only shoots up to 40 or higher for less then a min. Very short burst. Just thought it was weird to get that high for such a short amount of time.

I see your pressure is only 7 cm.
Are you having many apnea events near the times you may be awakened or having the rapid breathing?
Any clues in the reports in that regard?

I mostly stay around 5 but my wife says it sounds like a struggle for air. My nose has been stuffed or plugged up for months now. I might try and set the min to 6 just to give me a little more pressure.

I think your starting pressure ( 5 cm. ) is too low.
You have lots of pressure swings, but not many events.
Did you always have the Autoset?
If not, did this problem begin after starting to use the Autoset?
I would suggest setting the minimum to at least 7 cm.
Lots of us can't even breathe at those pressures.

I bumped it up to 6 last night I will keep it at this for a few days and see how it goes. I had a CPAP for years but stopped using it for about 4 years because I lost a lot of weight and didn't need it anymore. I bought this APAP last month out of pocket because I can't get into the sleep doc until Feb.
