Looking for real user info (not opinions, not unproven suggestions, not mfg literature) on HDM Z1 vs Transcend Travel CPAP. I'll be travelling for 4 months early next year and I'm looking to replace my REMStar Pro C-flex with something lighter and smaller. My operating setpoint is 6cm H2O. Want to stay with my AirFit P10 nasal pillow mask. I'll probably have to give up humidification, for now.
I'm test driving a Transcend right now - but it's noisy at two locations. The first noise appears to be the "blower" changing speed (a whiney revving up and down) to adapt to the different air flow requirements during each breath cycle. (Yeah, I could put it on the floor, under the bed, under a towel.) Lots of air noise at the mask, too; seems acoustical, coming thru the hose on the inhale. Exhale noise is about the same as with my home CPAP.
Not interested in "auto" mode at this time, unless it helps the noise - does it operate more quietly?
Will I have the same noise situation with the Z1?
(PS - could not search this forum for Z1. Didn't get any hits.)
Would the "Qtube" muffler help with noise #2 situation?
Thanks,
HDM Z1 vs Transcend

Cpap.com shows user reviews under the product page for the Z1.

Re: HDM Z1 vs Transcend
I looked at both of them online, and decided to go with the Transcend via a re-furbished one from Second Wind because of price. I have used mine on several occasions, mainly camping. I have gotten used to the sound of the machine, and it actually serves as a kind of "white noise" for me. I did buy a shorter tube so the battery might last longer by pushing the air over a shorter distance. If price is no object, try them both and report back.
Re: HDM Z1 vs Transcend
I have a HDM Z1. I bought it for travel, but I have now adopted it for daily use. As long as I place it on a cloth or pillow, I have no noise complaints. I use an antibacterial filter both for filtration and a little noise buffering. My husband claims that it is quieter than my PR--go figure.
