Fewer hours of sleep, the better I feel
Wth?
As I continue to try and track down the variables that create 'refreshed' mornings the one that keeps coming around is number of hours and bedtime. Basically it seems like the later I go to be the better. Many times when I go to bed at midnight and get up 6-7 hours later I feel better than when I go to bed at 10 and get up at 7am.
What the heck?

Over sleeping can also cause problems. I worked with someone who got migraines if he slept more then 8 hours.

In addition to being "Trumpified", your experience is pretty normal. You've probably been used to sleeping much longer prior to therapy and now you're getting better, oxygenated sleep and need less......for now.
At some point that may change and you'll look forward to spending more time with your "breathing assistant".
It happened to me, too.

Re: Fewer hours of sleep, the better I feel
They say it is not natural to sleep a continuous 8 hours, that it is normal to be up around midnight. People would do a little work around then for an hour or so. I sleep best if I start at 10 and sleep till 5. Half the time I'm off to the gym then, or never getting back to sleep.

Your sleep becomes deeper, if you sleep less. You should find a balance between sleep efficiency and durationSleepyMcgee wrote:Wth?

Re: Fewer hours of sleep, the better I feel
I've heard that before...I can certainly see back in the 'old days' when a farmer would nod off after dinner for a couple hours in a chair and then get up, have a snack, read a book and then go to their proper bed around 11-12 and then get up at 5...But that's not realistic for me. I cant nod off around 7 for a couple hours...LoBattery wrote:They say it is not natural to sleep a continuous 8 hours, that it is normal to be up around midnight. Re: Fewer hours of sleep, the better I feel
For me 8 hours of sleep would likely mean:
1. I am sick and need rest to recover.
2. Extremely sleep deprived from partying too much
3. Something is interrupting my sleep cycles, whether it be improper machine settings or any numbet of other factors.
Waking up "feeling refreshed" doesn't mean anything to me.
What matters is how I feel throughout the day.
5.5 hours or a little more or less is the norm.

So you can wake up feeling refreshed and then end up feeling terribly during the day? I guess the way I feel when I wake up generally indicates how I'll feel during the day...klv329 wrote:For me 8 hours of sleep would likely mean:

Yes indeed, on one occasion I thought I was in pure hog heaven nirvana of all refreshness, but it was just a sleep deprivation mirage -- this was back before I switched to ASV and stuggking to figure out what treatment would work. It was my first negative sign of sensitivity to an EPR of 2 and 3, I think.
Too much early morning energy for me is usually just hyperactivity that will dissipate into tiredness, and all due to poor sleep.
Other signs of bad sleep for me from my pre-ASV days are:
1. muscle soreness - some call it feeling you have been hit by a truck.
2. High heart rate
3. Feeling week with lack of motor skills
4. Needing a nap before going to work

Re: Fewer hours of sleep, the better I feel
This feeling refreshed in the morning...... Before I was on cpap I would leap out of bed early every day full of energy and needing to go to the bathroom(it was actually the result of an event and my heart racing...) That stopped when I went on cpap and I didn't have that jolt of near death to get me out of bed. Don't talk to me until I have been up an hour now. Cpap has been horrible for my mornings.

Welp...you learn something new everyday I guess. Usually within a minute of waking up I can tell how I'll be feeling that day. Everyone is different I suppose.
Crazy, when I was younger (after college) I could sleep 8+ hours and feel awesome. Now, it appears, that 8+ hours has a detrimental effect on how I feel.
