Why has my AHI gone up? (w/screenshots)
Re: Why has my AHI gone up? (w/screenshots)
I have a Resmed machine and none of those graphics. Being a technical guy I like that stuff and have no trust in doctors since a couple almost killed me. My sleep study was high price and a do it yourself activity. I learned nothing from those people. When I finally saw the doc 3 months later he must have noticed I changed the settings to the machine. He never mentioned anything about it, but mentioned I could try changing the EPR, this lowers the back pressure when you breathe out. He knew that normally a person couldn't change that number. He said that he changed his to off as it prevented his throat from collapsing after he exhaled. Wish you could go on ebay and get a finger test monitor of your oxygen levels all night. I know next to nothing about this, but thought his comments were interesting and might be of help to others. I would be concerned with changes like that.

Exactly which model ResMed machine do you have?
If unsure just look on the blower unit and report back ALL the words you see.
Some models don't offer those graphics as part of the data it collects. Maybe yours is one of those.
If it is an AirSense 10 model and all you see is "CPAP" on the blower then it doesn't gather the details needed for the graphs.
You need to see either "Elite" "Autoset" "AutoSet for Her" along with the AirSense 10 wording on the blower.
ResMed also makes a low budget model called "AirStart" and none of those gather any data to generate any graphs at all.
If it is the slightly older S9 model....need to know exactly what the model name is.

Here are the results for the last two days. I only slept a few hours last night (I almost always go to bed after midnight) but the AHI was much improved. I changed the maximum pressure to 12.5 and it didn't change on the 24th but on the 25th I loosened the mask quite a bit. I'm always afraid it's too loose because I can feel it leaking between my lips and chin.

Re: Why has my AHI gone up? (w/screenshots)
It's been a lot better the last couple of days. The long gap in the 11-26 graph is when I couldn't sleep and got up for a bit then went back to bed. The only differences that I've made is that I loosened the mask and I was using band aids where the mask was rubbing. The looser mask blows into my eyes, which is annoying but is it a bad thing?

You sound like a good candidate for mask liners - Padacheek.com.

I have been using a CPAP machine for over ten years and during that time my AHI has gone up a lot for a week or more and then come back down to less than two which is where it normally is. I have not been able to figure out why this happens. You might wait a couple of weeks and see if yous comes back down.

Thanks for that info, mine is only a Airsense 10 CPAP. My wife is paranoid about the machine failing and wants me to get a spare. I found a used Autosense 10 pretty cheap and the graphics gives me incentive to get it. I assume this is all online. It is amazing the info you can get out of these machines. I found my "NEW" machine, a rental, had over 120 hours on it.Pugsy wrote: If it is an AirSense 10 model and all you see is "CPAP" on the blower then it doesn't gather the details needed for the graphs.

When you have a machine that has full data it is put on the SD card. You download a program to your computer called Sleepyhead and read all of the info on your computer. https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead If you then want to post your screen shots here there are other instructions to do that but the info is all on your computer.LoBattery wrote:Thanks for that info, mine is only a Airsense 10 CPAP. Re: Why has my AHI gone up? (w/screenshots)
It's been about 40 days since I last posted in this thread. I am pleased to announce that my AHI has been below a 2 for the last 16 days. It has been under a 1 for 6 days in a row. All I've done differently is to wear a hat to keep the straps from irritating my forehead and I quit using Band Aids. I also tightened the straps quite a bit.

can you add a flow limit graph to your charts

I have a Philips Dreamstation and flow limit doesn't show up in Sleepyhead with this machine. Could it be under a different name?

Me thinks you are the only one who can answer that. Diff sleep position? Cocktails that nite? Something you at?bugo wrote:Is anything different on the last screenshot?
Re: Why has my AHI gone up? (w/screenshots)
Nothing that I know of was different. I don't drink alcohol so that can't be it. I didn't take any medications that I don't normally take and I slept the same way I always do, on my side. The only thing I noticed that was different was that I woke up with a headache, which usually doesn't happen when I have a low AHI.Guest wrote:Me thinks you are the only one who can answer that.
