CPAP WORKS.
Does your insurance cover anything else?
If not, it could be because they are avoiding liability--because effectiveness of your oral appliance
is inconsistent and hard to prove; and the most common negative side effects are legally actionable.
I share this information out of compassion for those who could be harmed by allowing their denial to lead them to harm

No, this is the government that is connected to my job. Once they find out you have sleep apnea, before they will certify you, you have to come in yearly with your machine printout. My insurance pays for everything including oral %100. So I don't plan to fight big brother but will conform to what they feel is best for everyone wich is correct as some folks would choose not to comply and there would be no way to identify these folks.

ah, some peace and quiet... now if you'd just get your wife, who is clearly the intelligent member of the household, to join the forum, and you go back to quietly drooling in the corner, we'd all be better off.

good luck getting a refund if it doesn't fit your mouth. I have returned my device 3 months ago and have yet to receive refund. I call daily for status. some days I am told it is being processed, some days I am told a manager will call me and other days I am told it has not been processed.

Just another good reason to stay clear of questionable gadgets, and the companies/people who promote them.
Have you filed a report with BBB? (not Bed, Bath, and Beyond, the other guys)
You should also contact your state prosecutor--you may be eligible for money from a crime victims' fund.

Having the government attached to your job is a b@#ch. Being a commercial truck driver and having to
use a CPAP machine I thought was going to be a problem. I asked my DOT doctor about using an oral device
and he said that all I had to do was take another sleep study using the oral device and if the results came
back with no Apnea I was good to go. I would have to take a sleep study every year to get my 1 year medical
card to drive. I tried a mouth piece and a chin strap and nothing was as comfortable for me as my machine.
It also seemed to be a Crap shoot with how effective the oral device would be with keeping me alive when
I know my oxygen levels dropped below 70% when not on my machine. Too scary for me and not worth being
a Guinea pig test subject.

Plus how would you prove compliance to the DOT at your next physical with an oral device? Your annual sleep study would only show that you used it that night. With my CPAP, I just ran off my reports that showed compliance and was good to go.

That is how it was explained by the DOT doctor. If the oral device works, then you will not have
sleep apnea when you take the sleep study. Then you will get your medical card with a passed
sleep study. Don't need compliance reports if you are not having any issues.

But you only do not have apneas if you use the device. How do you prove that you use the device the other 364 days of the year? Maybe fine for someone that will use the device but there are those that will use it to get around treating their apnea and remain a danger to others.

Just curious.. could you not get data from a pulse oximeter with recording? My understanding is the rel problem is low blood O2 levels.

Sure you'd have to buy the O2 meter, but they are a lot less than a CPAP machine

no.

low o2 levels is only a part of the problem that sleep apnea causes, and people can have significantly disturbed sleep without significant spo2 desaturations.

Thanks for the response..

I could use a clue as to what the other problems are, and how they relate in seriousness to low O2

I was tempted to answer, but figured at this level of denial, he would find out first hand.
