resmed s9 not working, keeps restarting

Post by sleeplessinvenice » Wed Nov 02, 2016 8:40 am

I'm in Venice, Italy and my Cpap won't turn on. It begins to power up, then shuts itself off, then begins to power up, shuts itself off again, and repeats this cycle ad nauseum until I unplug it. No trouble before now, have used it with power adapter for a week already. My provider will send me a new machine, but express shipping (arrives two days from now) costs more than $200 which I must pay. I will be here for one more week. What should I do?

Try another power source? Like the outlet in the hall or coffee shop? If it works somewhere else it is not the box but the power to it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Have tried multiple power sources. To be more clear, the machine is getting power, it just seems to run into some kind of loading error, decides to restart and try again, and keeps running into the same error. Provider suggested I take out SD card, tried that, no luck. Attempted all combinations of power source, SD card in/out, humidifier attached/detached, no luck.

Maybe try a new power adapter on the off chance this one might have decided to act up?
It's a stretch but not impossible and a cheap experiment to try.
Also check all your connections on the back of the S9 and your power brick to make sure they are secure...just in case something is a little loose.

Machines do up and die...and unfortunately in the most inconvenient situations.

If you can't get it to work...no matter everything you tried..
You have 1 week left there and it takes at least 2 days to get you a new machine and it's expensive.
I might be tempted to just do without for the 4 or 5 days remaining...but that's just me.
Then try sleeping upright as much as possible to lessen the severity of what is likely to happen.

If you are staying with people they may willingly pitch in for the shipping to not sleep with a locomotive in the room.

If it was mine and acting like that, I think I would give it a small gentle vibratory calibration. Maybe jog its memory banks...

If you're staying in a hotel, try plugging it into the 110-volt socket in the bathroom (if you have one). It's supposed to be dual-voltage, but the voltage is the obvious thing that is different from home (so try it just on the off chance). If that does prove to be the issue, you can worry about reaching the bed later.

Another thing to try is disabling the ramp. Perhaps it's just a problem with that feature than you can bypass by turning it off.

I know this is an old post, but I recently had this happen to me and wanted to get my particular solution out there. Remove the SD card. It is likely corrupt and, while you can't collect data, you can still use the device. You will need to go to your supplier/sleep clinic for a new card

No...any generic SD card will work. You don't have to go to the equipment supplier at all.
I am currently using a SD card I got at WalMart because I lost the first one...or the dog ate it..it disappeared.

There's nothing special about the SD cards that the DME has.

Thank you for your post Randy12866. I just encountered the situation with my machine this morning myself. Given how long I've had this machine, I thought this was it. I tried pulling out the SD card just now, and it looks like I'll be all set to keep sleeping soundly through the long week-end.

I'll be sure to tackle what I need to do to get it renewed ASAP.

Cheers.
