If I were to fill up the sink with water, how much vinegar should I use?

Will the vinegar smell go away once rinsed and dried?

I use the sink and I probably put about 2-3 cups of vinegar in with hot, hot water.

Yes, if you rinse thoroughly the vinegar smell goes away.

For what it's worth, I prefer the smell of the vinegar over the perfumes in baby shampoo or dishwashing liquid. Even the "fragrance free" stuff bothers me more than the vinegar.

FWIW...vinegar didn't whitening the mesh enough to suit me. I did it as a last resort because I hate the smell of vinegar.
It is worth trying though just in case.
I think the mold actually puts a permanent stain in the plastic that nothing will remove.
I also tried a toothbrush and straight bleach (I already figured it going in the trash by then anyway) and that didn't even whiten enough to suit me and that's with letting it soak a bit.
Maybe mine was simply too far gone for too long....maybe yours isn't. I dunno because I can't see yours and even with pictures it's real hard to see the subtle changes in the color of the plastic.
The mold itself is easy to remove but the stain left is extremely difficult and I didn't want to risk it myself.

Hydrogen peroxide might offer a solution. I don't know if the typical 3% solution available at drugstores would be strong enough, but it would be a place to start.

I hate the smell of bleach even more; but vodka evaporates almost too quickly.

You know that's one thing I didn't try...didn't have any handy and by the time the bleach failed I was beyond further experimentation. In my mind if soaking in straight bleach doesn't do the trick then it's a lost cause.
While technically it probably was safe to use I just wasn't comfortable doing it ...not when it comes to mold and I had a brand new one on hand.

I ordered a new one, before I saw these posts about Amazon. I didn't think to check there.

But, I do want to work on keeping this one clean so it doesn't end up with black specks. I like the idea of vodka - smell evaporating...

Do you soak it in straight vodka?

I only use vodka in extreme cases; vodka only needs a minute or so.
Smallest container possible--one thing I hate to waste.
Not diluted, so it will kill whatever I need dead.

I use straight bleach and a Q-tip on the mesh of the P10. Dip the Q-tip in bleach and scrub both sides of the mesh. That forces the bleach into the mesh.
Let sit for a few hours. Rinse both sides of the mesh with the spray hose at the kitchen sink. Blot dry with a kleenex. The mesh will look like new.

Before you put on the mask, use the "mask fit" function to blow air through the mask for 10 or 15 seconds to remove any residual odor.
Once you put the mask on and the machine is running, the air is blowing out of the mesh, not in, so you won't smell anything.
This method works great for me. You just cant kill these masks. I'm still using my first P10, almost 3 years later, and it looks like new.

I have five (don't ask); the oldest is close to 3 years old, and I cannot tell it from the one I got recently.
Never used bleach, but Dawn and a toothbrush usually does the trick.
Eventually, I got grayish gunk in the mesh, but the water pic is very effective after a warm, sudsy soak.
