Nasal pillow recommendations needed please
Hello
I've been using resmed air fit since almost the start 8 months ago. I started with resmed fx but didn't like it mostly because of the exhaust outlet. I switched to air fit and was more comfortable and exhaust air was almost nonexistent. I have not been getting restful sleep despite using the machine so last night I switched back to fx and I got better sleep. My questions are: is there any other nasal pillow that you would recommend that diffuses the exhaust air? I like the air fit but don't like the strap, has anyone seen anyone done any modification to Change it to strap?
I would like to know if there is any nasal pillow that would combine little as possible exhaust air with strap that can not be stretched over time especially when you move your head on the pillow.
Thanks in advance

The dreamwear mask has the hose connection at the top of your head as opposed to the front of the mask. The top of the mask is also where most of the exhaled air escapes from so air is not shooting out from the front of the mask, but from the top. It's not a pillow but it fits similar to one, maybe look into it and see how you like it.
Re: Nasal pillow recommendations needed please
Only nasal pillow mask I can think of right now with the ability to diffuse the venting is the Pilairo Q.

I have no idea how it compares to the ResMed P10 venting. I haven't tried this version. I did try the very first original before they made changes to improve it.
Do you still have the Swift FX headgear?..I know of a way to attach the P10 nasal pillow frame to the Swift FX headgear and enable you to lose the stretchy P10 headgear.

I have been wearing P10 masks for over 2 years now, and it is the only headgear
that recovers nearly all its stretch when washed in hot water.
I cannot tell which headgear are the oldest, they refresh that well.
The mesh venting is the least obtrusive of any mask I have tried.
I used to have to build a "fort" between our pillows to keep the bullfrog from complaining about the air blast.
Not with the P10.

How do you do that I have an extra swift Fx gear and an extra p10 air fit. I am thinking of a way modifying so that the air is not awakening me.
Thanks

I don't for sure..but you gave me a couple of cluesBorn2Bwild wrote:How do you do that I have an extra swift Fx gear and an extra p10 air fit

and since you were asking about nasal pillows I thought you probably meant ResMed Swift FX and the AirFit P10.Born2Bwild wrote: I like the air fit but don't like the strap,

I have this mask and it is really comfortable. I'm a newbie and this is what I was set up with.biz64 wrote:The dreamwear mask has the hose connection at the top of your head as opposed to the front of the mask. Sometimes the frame shifts slightly when I roll over, and will dislodge the nice seal of the nose pillow, but it is a gentle tug on either the side or top of the frame to snug it back into place.
I find sometimes a pillow will shift and block the exhaust out the top, and, it also isn't very exhaust-friendly if you like to sleep under the covers (which I do like but am having to give up).
I like most of all the soft feel of the silicone frame and nose piece. The air supply hose as a top feed is nice, and I find it best to run it behind the headboard and come over the top to my head, rather than coming at me from the side of the bed. I'm less likely to roll over on it that way.

Care to provide the details on how to attach the P10 nasal pillows to the Swift FX headgear?Pugsy wrote:Only nasal pillow mask I can think of right now with the ability to diffuse the venting is the Pilairo Q.

And has anybody been able to figure out how to attach the Swift FX pillows to the P10 headgear?
While I really like the diffused venting of the P10 and the more minimal headgear of the P10, my nose and face prefers the squashier pillows of the Swift FX. What I mean by that is this: The P10 pillows hook onto a rigid plastic base where the mesh vents are located. That rigid plastic base tends to hit my bed pillow when I'm nestling in on my side or stomach and it dislodges the pillows. The softer FX pillows do not dislodge due to hitting my bed pillow in the wrong way. And hence my nose and face prefer the sqaushier FX pillows and I just use hankies and a robe (in the winter time) to protect myself from the jet plane exhaust flow from the FX pillows.

I have pictures posted somewhere...it's late and I have a headache. I will try to remember tomorrow to go find that thread...if I forget...remind me.robysue wrote:Care to provide the details on how to attach the P10 nasal pillows to the Swift FX headgear?
Basically you take off the elastic part of the headgear and feed the little arms up through the slots on the Swift FX headgear. The little arms are too long and can be cut off but what I did was use the side strap covers from the Swift FX to hold the little arms along the silicone because I didn't want to butcher the plastic arms.
I slept with it that way just to see how it worked and it worked fine.
That I haven't been able to figure out how to do and I don't recall ever seeing anyone mention doing that little trick.robysue wrote:And has anybody been able to figure out how to attach the Swift FX pillows to the P10 headgear?
Are you referring to using the stretchy part of the headgear so that the Swift FX pillows and short hose is used but with the minimal P10 headgear?
I loaned my Swift FX out so I don't have it handy just now to see if I can rig up something...remind me in a week or so and when I get my mask back I will do some playing with it.
I gotta think hard on that one and I need the mask in front of me to do it.

I'll try to do a search tomorrow. It's after 2 hear and I need to get to bed.

You are more clever than I am with jerry-rigging things. I'll also put my own thinking cap on, however, and see if I can figure something out.I gotta think hard on that one and I need the mask in front of me to do it.

As promised... pictures of the marriage of the Swift FX headgear to the frame and pillows of the P10 can be found here down sorta near the bottom of the page. BTW this can be done with the Bella Loops too.

I actually slept quite nicely with this hybrid...the change in the side straps weren't even felt with the little covers on and if someone had a pair of padacheek strap covers it would probably be even more comfy.
Marrying the P10 headgear and the Swift FX pillows and short hose experiment will have to wait until I have my Swift FX short hose and frame back from being out on loan and the person just got it earlier this week and is now trying it with the Nano cushion. So may take a few days.

Like I mentioned I have an extra on of each and I'll go in modifying them

Marrying the Swift FX hose/pillow frame to the P10 headgear is going to have to wait a little while.
I loaned it out and the person really likes it and has made me an offer I can refuse. So it won't be coming back to me. I will get another one when my insurance will pay for it which I think is a couple of months maybe unless I run across a killer hot deal on EBay or Amazon for it.
