Another Good Night

Post by vlad2075 » Tue Oct 25, 2016 1:06 pm

Had another good night last night. 8.49 hours and an AHI of 3.

AHI seems to be holding steady at 3 for the past couple of nights. Considering that I was at 70 when I did my sleep study, it's a massive improvement.

Still feeling a little foggy when I get up though. Any suggestions?

It can take up to a month for your brain to trust that thing on your face and that it will stop you from trying to kill your self at night according to my sleep doc. Once it trusts it will allow you to sleep deeply. Also remember that the damage done from years of bad sleep will take some time to repair. It took about 3 months before I noticed that writing software was suddenly very easy again.

That's what I figured. It took me a good 2 weeks to get used to it. The first couple of nights I would rip my mask off several times a night in desperation. Now, the mask stays on all night except for the occasional bathroom break (can't help the bathroom breaks being that I am on a diuretic for my BP)

Do you wake often during those hours of cpap use?
Do you take any medications?
Any other health conditions going on that might impact how you sleep or feel? Pain?
What is that AHI of 3.0 made up of? Anything else showing on the software reports that maybe aren't included in the AHI but might impact sleep quality or hint to poor sleep quality?

I am always a little foggy in the morning...not a morning person (never have been)...
But I have other health issues that mess with my sleep and the meds I take for that tend to hang on in the AM and make it slow to want to wake up.

I only take Atenolol for high BP. Before therapy I would get up several times a night...sometimes to have a cigarette (yes I'm a smoker )

Well, last night my AHI of 3.0 consists of the following:

Total Clear Airway Apneas

0

Total Obstructive Apneas

7

Total Hypopneas

19

Your machine will gather more data than what you are seeing on the machine or with DreamMapper.
When you have time use the software available.
https://sleep.tnet.com/equipment
and see if you are having some other events (Flow limitations or RERAs or snores) which could maybe indicate less than optimal pressure even with an "acceptable" AHI of 3.0.

Nocturia is a symptom of sleep apnea...so hopefully your nocturia has reduced so it isn't quite so disruptive to sleep.
Of course other things can cause it but hopefully it is less of a problem now.
The more wake ups we have from anything the less restorative our sleep will be.

It may be that there's some other stuff showing on the reports that we could maybe reduce that might help you feel a little less "foggy".
Won't hurt to look or try but you need the software to see the details.
