AirSense 10 trouble shooting

Post by Pad A Cheek » Sat Sep 10, 2016 8:37 am

Hello everyone. I need some help for a friend. She was using an AirSense 10 CPAP up until yesterday. When she went to bed, the machine would not come on. No power, no lights, nothing. She has tested the outlet, it is live. She has checked the connection, it is securely plugged in. There were no warnings such as an error code or strange noises. The machine is less than 2 years old so she feels it is still under warranty. The problem is that she has no machine, the DME is closed for the weekend with no emergency number, and she needs either a fix or a machine.

I am loaning her one of mine, but she is a 3 hour drive from here. If we can fix the one she has and avoid the drive that would be best. Worst case, she has to drive 6 hours on poor sleep last night. I have offered to come closer for her, but she wants to do the drive herself and she feels like she can do it safely. Maybe I should ask if anyone in Virginia has a loaner machine besides me.

Any ideas??? Thanks so much. You can PM me if you wish or post here.

Thank you for this great resource of experienced CPAP users, I am grateful.

Karen

the only things I can think of are to unplug the plug from the wall, unplug the cord from the power brick, unplug the connection at the back of the machine. check them all, (I've heard of water getting in the connection at the back of the machine from spills).

make sure the center pin is in the plug that goes to the back of the machine...

then plug everything back together, and cross fingers.

Thank you Palerider for your help. She has done all of those except the the pin. I will double check that with her when I talk to her on the phone before she leaves. Thanks again.

I hope she doesn't actually have the CPAP model, that one's a brick.

if she does, she should contact grayghost4 and see about getting a good machine, and keeping the repaired CPAP for an emergency (such as this) spare.

She is getting a replacement machine under warranty, but she just needs one right now. We are driving to meet her. We are braving the I-81 today when so many are headed to Bristol for the Battle of Bristol, Virginia Tech and University of Tennessee. The traffic is likely to be brutal.

Road trip for a friend. Always worth it.

Problem could be just the power block if your friend knows how to use a volt meter you could unplug the power from the machine and check the 24v voltage at the plug that goes to the machine.

Thank you so much for that idea. We will have her check that too.

My AirCurve 10 did the same thing last December when we were out of town. As soon as I got home, I contacted my DME who replaced it for me.

It is pretty rough when the very machine you depend on to get a good night's sleep does not work. I have been doing this for over 12 years and I have purchased a back up machine just as soon as I could afford one. I have only spent one full night and one half night without it since diagnosed. The full night was a night away early in my CPAP use and I forgot the machine. The second night was during a camping trip when the battery died in the middle of the night. I vow to not be without it if I can possibly prevent it. I sleep awful without it.

Thank you for the great suggestions and the warm hearts in which they were shared.

Karen
