Re: Recently diagnosed. Getting my CPAP next week.
So mine is the "second best" you referred to last week that takes a long time to respond to your needs?
Also: I see that there are a lot of instructions for doing your own adjustments on this site. But the lady at the clinic said she would see everything I do on the machine due to the cellular modem installed on it and that she would be monitoring it closely. Won't changing things in clinician mode set off alarm bells?

in other words, we don't care what the lady at the clinic thinks. unlike her, we're concerned with getting people the best sleep they can get.

Well at any rate I should probably gather some data before monkeying with it.

The "ouch" and "evil bastards" was not about your machine, it was for the Dream Station Pro model. You will probably find your machine do quite well for you. Some people prefer one machine over the over due to how handle events. Both are good machines, and you will find a lot of people here that use either brand.bernerbits wrote:Would like to know what "ouch" and "evil bаstаrds" means in relationship to this machine, since I have little context. I take that to mean it is a bad machine. It has me pretty concerned.

Re: Recently diagnosed. Getting my CPAP next week.
All right. Here's the results of the first night. Seemed to go well, better than I expected at least. The tech told me I probably wouldn't be able to handle more than 2 hours, but I managed to sleep for a good chunk of the night, albeit with 5mg of melatonin. Had 2 or 3 half hour to hour wakings.
It appears that once pressure hit 12 cmH2O I got a TON of clear airway (central?) apneas (going by "Inspiration Time" it looks like I was holding my breath a lot) and a bunch of other stuff got real chaotic too. I remember waking up during this time and feeling the air going out my ears. I've read about CPAP induced central apneas so I figure this is what's happening, since I didn't get ANY central apneas on my sleep study.
There's a break around 2:35-2:40. That's when I woke up and didn't feel any pressure and thought the machine had stopped, so I turned it off and on.
Last night's AHI was 9, when my untreated AHI was 36. So between learning to sleep better with this thing and getting the pressure settings right, I should eventually be getting some good sleep.

Updated. I don't have the flow limit graph on mine. EDIT: Gah! That's not right. Let me fix that.
Re: Recently diagnosed. Getting my CPAP next week.
please remove the graphs that aren't on the example, most of the time, the extra ones you included aren't needed. scrunching them all so small on there makes 'em pretty useless as it is.bernerbits wrote:Updated. Re: Recently diagnosed. Getting my CPAP next week.
OK, third time's the charm. For some reason this time the graphs got all fiddly and the lines kept disappearing on me at random when I would resize it. Anyway, I should have the recommended (sans Flow Limit) graphs on the screenshot this time.
Pugsy: I'm not overly worried about the centrals; I just have a very analytical brain (computer programmer) which can come across as sounding worried.

never resize the screenshot... if you're talking about resizing the individual charts... well, er, bugs. how are you at c++?bernerbits wrote:OK, third time's the charm. I'd raise the minimum pressure to 7, may need to be more, but the default factory fits nobody setting of 4 is too low.bernerbits wrote:All right. Here's the results of the first night. Individual charts.palerider wrote:never resize the screenshot... if you're talking about resizing the individual charts... well, er, bugs. how are you at c++?
My C++ is fine, if a bit rusty. I haven't touched it in 7 years but I have some good books that will jog my memory.
Drawing lines in OpenGL can result in issues like this if you don't enable antialiasing. I might look at the source if I ever get some spare time (but with another kid on the way... not likely!)

we (the community) need some programmers to take over and fork sleepyhead... the author has this habit of dumping mostly working but buggy stuff out and disappearing for many many months, while people work around his stuff.bernerbits wrote:Individual charts.palerider wrote:never resize the screenshot... if you're talking about resizing the individual charts... well, er, bugs. how are you at c++?

Re: Recently diagnosed. Getting my CPAP next week.
I'll keep that in mind. I'm hoping the algorithm will raise it for me so I'll give it a week or so. Plus I would like to get sleeping through the night before I make any changes.palerider wrote:I'd raise the minimum pressure to 7, may need to be more, but the default factory fits nobody setting of 4 is too low.

I feel about the same as 8 hours of sleep on untreated apnea, though I felt more alert this morning when I got up to run. My FitBit says 5 hours, which, considering I was averaging 3 with the untreated apnea, is an improvement. Still pretty tired, but it was nice to wake up with moisture in my upper airway for once.
