Used it for 4 nites and couldn't deal it.
My main annoyances: 1) The fat cable/wire was always always in my way. I could always feel it under my body or on my neck or across my chest, etc
2) I could hear my breathing VERY LOUDLY with every single inhale and exhale.
Are these things unavoidable, especially the loud sounds of my own breathing?
I wanted this to work out so much, but I feel so ALONE in this. Thank you very much.

Re: I'm New. The Cable and Breathing Noises
I guess you mean the hose when you say fat cable/wire, but there are ways to deal with it, like loosely attaching it to headboards, skyhooks, and something called a Hose Buddy (Google it) that's like a little IV pole beside your bed.
As far as the noise or much else goes, without having any idea which specific model (all wording you can find on machine) of which machine you use, it's hard to advise, though we'd like to help... same goes for the mask. If you could provide these, plus what your pressure setting(s) are, it would help a lot. Please come back to this thread with info so we can follow things along.

Sometimes running a small fan in the room helps drown out the sound.
There are white sound generators, or you can leave music on low volume.
Most of the annoying sound is caused by leaks--fix the leaks, it gets much quieter.
We tend to get used to sounds as time goes on.
I live near a busy train corridor, and slept through lightning striking a huge tree in our yard.

1) Hose management can make a big difference, do follow prior suggestions.tommie9 wrote: ... My main annoyances: 1) The fat cable/wire was always always in my way. 2) Is the sound of your breathing coming from the machine, the hose, or the mask?
Machine: Sitting the machine on an old style rubber mouse pad can buffer the noise, especially of sitting on an enclosed table that is hollow.
Hose: Add hose cover, either purchased or get creative. I've made covers out of a cloth ladies belt that I just snipped the ends. Also cut the hem off of an old dress and threaded the hose through the tubular strip. Also, where the hose touches the bed, headboard, or wall can accentuate the sound. Covers help with that.
3) Mask: As has been suggested - mask liners.
None of your annoyances need to be deal breakers. You may be surprised at how much a difference a small self-help effort can make. Using white noise as suggested is a great place to start. You are not alone in this. This forum has plenty of "new user blues" stories. Be encouraged by going to the top of the page and reading some of the success stories. I do hope when you figure out what helps for you that you'll come back and share it to benefit others.

Re: I'm New. The Cable and Breathing Noises
I had all of the same problems you did starting out. They can be fixed.
Get a http://www.snugglehose.com That makes the long hose feel like part of the blanket. Get the one with the zipper. Also, if you can find a way to run the long hose over your headboard and down to you, that helps keep it under control.
There are products called Hose Hangers that lift the long hose up. I use one called Cozy Hose Boss. https://www.cpap.com has these.
White noise drowns out the breathing noises. I run an air purifier with a big fan in it.

Re: I'm New. The Cable and Breathing Noises
I hear my breathing through the hose and can't figure out what causes it, but I do know what stops it for me. I bought a "passover humidifier", which is a flat plastic reservoir with baffles in it that is intended to add humidity to the air without any electric connections. Without adding water to the reservoir, it seems to baffle the air flow so it quiets down.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
