Maybe you can refresh my memory of the exact number, but I have read that something like 70% of the human muscle mass is from the waste down. When you are walking, you also use muscles above the waist - the abdominal and back muscles must work to support the upper part of the body including the head. I think I heard somewhere the tongue was among the strongest muscles in the body, that has been proven here time and again.
