Hi, New here
Hi,
I am new here and have been using a Resmed Escape II since 2009. I just upgraded to the Airsense 10 Autoset about a week ago.

Welcome! How do you like the new machine? Most people are pretty happy with them and they are nice and quiet. And now that you have the autoset, you have something that can adjust to your differing needs constantly - always a good thing. And now you have lots of fascinating data that you can look at! Check out SleepyHead: http://sleepyhead.jedimark.net/
Did they set your new machine up based on your old machine or did they leave it "wide open" at 4-20? If the latter, it is often more comfortable to increase the minimum up closer to what you know you need.
If the equipment you enter in your profile doesn't show up, it's because cpap.com doesn't sell the older stuff any more. If this happens, the best thing to do is to add your equipment and mask as a comment at the end of your profile.

Congrats... welcome aboard. Here's some more SH info. Since you had an Escape before you'll probably be blown away you all the data you'll be getting with the new Airsense machine:
Here, in order, are the three excellent links that graphically show you how to get the correctly sized Sleepyhead images to show up in your CPAPtalk post:

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Re: Hi, New here
My insurance is horrible so I was able to find a used Airsense 10 Autoset that had 29 hours on it at about half price. I took it to my doctor and they set the the pressure to what my old machine was with some head room on the high end so it can adjust up if needed.yaconsult wrote:Welcome! Overall, I feel that the Autoset is a better machine, I am sleeping allot better now and feel better in the mornings, I am not sure if it is just that the S9 is old and worn out now, but it is a big difference. I am definately interested in the data from the machine, and downloaded the SD card to my computer after the first night, but for some reason sleepyhead could not find the data in the folder I put it in, I am not sure what I am doing wrong. It is what ever the latest sleepyhead version or beta is.

Re: Hi, New here
Oh,
I forgot to ask, where is the best place to get replacement air filters for the Autoset? I have been looking everywhere and it seams like there are allot of knock off filters that don't work, I am interested in the hypoallergenic filters in a 10 pack.
Thank you again.

Re: Hi, New here
These aren't manufactured by ResMed. They are aftermarket filters and even though they are quite good (I use them) if a person is wanting name brand OEM from ResMed these aren't those.LAGrandpa wrote:Our host CPAP.COM has them in 6 packs

It's hard to find the original name brand ResMed filters. Most are aftermarket filters and they do work just as well. I have compared them to the name brand ResMed filters and if I didn't know which package they came out of I couldn't tell any difference.Snowleopard1901 wrote: I forgot to ask, where is the best place to get replacement air filters for the Autoset? If you just feel better having name brand filters there used to be a seller on EBAY who advertised name brand filters for both ResMed and Respironics that I have bought from. That's how I came to have some name brand ResMed packaged filters to compare to the ones that cpap.com has.
I don't know if he is still selling name brand filters on EBAY but you could search for the filters on Ebay and see if you find someone promoting OEM filters. It's been a while since I bought mine.

I get mine either from amazon or ebay. I also use a regular filter and the hypo filter.Snowleopard1901 wrote:Oh,

Re: Hi, New here
I just got an S9 and have been considering getting the filters on cpap.com as mentioned. I have also spotted these on ebay. Any opinions?

I will have to admit after using a Respironics for 16 years I am surprised to see that the S9 filters can't be cleaned and reused. The other thing that I find hard to believe is the manual says to replace the filters every 6 months. Where I am it's a bit dusty and I'm wondering about that. How can you tell if you need to change as all it says in the manual is every 6 months or when needed. Are we talking about when you start to see it turn a bit gray like I did with my fine filter on my Respironics? How often do you see people change them out normally?

At *least* every 6 months, "or as needed".lanco wrote:The other thing that I find hard to believe is the manual says to replace the filters every 6 months.

Re: Hi, New here
If its dusty where you live, you are probably in the "as needed" category. If you change the filter every 3 months it costs you $4 or less a year. Can you handle that?lanco wrote:I just got an S9 and have been considering getting the filters on cpap.com as mentioned. I have also spotted these on ebay. Any opinions?

Re: Hi, New here
Yes..when they start turning gray like the white fine filter on your Respironics...the degree of "gray" is up to you as to what you are comfortable with. Where I live and this old house it is quite dusty. I usually change the filter in my S9 once a month and it's pretty darn gray by then.lanco wrote:Are we talking about when you start to see it turn a bit gray like I did with my fine filter on my Respironics? There is a ResMed filter that can be washed and reused often but it isn't a "fine" filter and I don't particularly like it.
It came with my first S9 machine and I recently got some of these types(not OEM) in a donations box. It "feels" different and it's more open mesh like and will stand up to multiple washings.
If you want to see it I will mail a new one to you...just PM me your name and address. It is washable and different from most of the other fine filters I have seen.
