Resperonics ComfortGel problems

Post by Firefox » Fri Aug 19, 2016 6:18 am

I got the ComfortGel in size XL yesterday from my home health-care company. It hurts the bridge of nose real bad.I tried the support arm adjustment to alleviate the pressure but then it starts to leak and I have to tighten it again. But the size feels correct. In the beginning it feels quite good and comfy
Also it feels like after awhile the gel collapses down at my chin and inside and it starts to leak. Also farts at left side of my mouth.I tighten left side to take the leak away but after awhile it starts again. Is this normal or is it my imagination about the gel?Does the gel take awhile to set?I tried the ComfortGel Blue Full in size Large but it was too small and the fit was too tight inside.

When I put my old Comfortfull 2 on I can least sleep but it has seen better days and needs replacing.Guys it feels like I'm loosing my mind.Have tried Airfit F10,ComfortGel Blue Full, Resmed Mirage Quattro.I'm sure my health care company thinks I'm going bonkers lol. Please help me.

When I used a Comfort gel ff mask, I needed to put a band-aid over the bridge of my nose
for the first couple nights to prevent a blister. After that, it was not needed.
The cushions tended to sag after around a month and a half, so I had to replace them.
I had to abandon using that mask because the DME insisted on only replacing the cushion
after 90 days, so they could use the mask code for payment.
That DME lost my business shortly after. It is a good mask if you can make it work.
I tried over 20 masks before I found a couple that did not hurt.

Chunkyfrog is correct, also and adjusting the headgear for your head is critical.

1. Run the XPAP at your normal pressure to adjust the mask.

2. Press or hold the mask on your face until it operates correctly, then adjust the straps to keep it in place.
3. For me the masks move around, they ride up I have to roll the back webbing at the bottom to keep it there. I used to staple it rolled up, but found out it would stay on its own. Jim

Thank you Jim and Chunkyfrog for your advice.I called my home healthcare specialist today.According to her with Gel u have to dip the gel in hot(not boiling) water for 3-5minutes to make the gel soft then u assemble the mask again and put it on your face in your usual sleeping position so the gel can form on your face contours and leave it on for awhile till it cools off abit.I did it today.I must say the gel felt alot softer.Felt softer and didn't just bend over. Will try again later tonight when I go sleep to see how the leaks go.Will put bandaid on over my nose too for the sore nose.I'm very tempted to make mask liners for it.I see some even use old socks cut shorter and put over.I sure hope is well washed socks lol.Else it might work even more for sleep

As usual, your healthcare specialist, doesnt know what shes talking about, the gel is soft it mushes whwere it needs to go at room temp, its not a boil n bite, its softer than jello. Jim

after you put the mask on to sleep, with the machine running at treatment pressure, lightly pull the mask away from your face, that allows the seal to set better..
