Even after pressure settings changed by my Doctor, my CA's are even higher! (last night 96 Central events)
Should I be concerned? I am still waiting approval for ASV

Did you ever get an overnight recording pulse oximeter to see what the oxygen might be during those centrals?
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

I only have the battery operated basic oximeter.
My DME sent the following e-mail
Hello Robert,
I was told that you called today with a report of high AHI. I'm sending you the latest therapy report so you can compare the findings. I hope that this helps. It is showing that an ASV is not needed and your respiratory episodes are under control with the settings on the BiPAP prescribed. That is good news.

Is the DME a doctor?
And just what is the basis for "under control"?

Are you allowed another sleep study under your insurance? If you want a Ferrari instead of a Ford you've got to start from step one insurance wise.

Rozenbob...you might include just a bit of history for those that haven't been following your situation and posts closely.
Otherwise you are going to get people telling you to do what you have already done.

I'm sorry I always assume people might be capable of ignoring suggestions of things that they have already done. And I never feel like I tell people what to do.

No need to apologize UncleBob. This happens when people start new threads about old problems and don't link to past discussions or give a brief history.
I happen to remember the history and I was just trying to ward off all the people telling him to get another sleep study when I know he just had one not long ago and if I remember correctly they said he didn't really have any centrals. I don't remember all the details though and I don't have time to go search through all the past threads.
I am still scratching my head as to why the centrals are only popping up in the last half of the night...this isn't the first report like this...pretty much all his others look like this.
If the DME is doing all the deciding...he's not qualified unless he is a doctor.
I am thinking he would be my past DME if it were me.
I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

Here is my recap........
I had three Sleep studies in 2006 all showing some CA's.
I had a CPAP titration Oct 2015 that showed 0 CA's.
I had an ASV titration (with Echo cardio) early Jun 2016 showing it was controlling CA's
But the Insurance wanted a BiPAP titration that was done near the end of June and it showed CA's.
End of June, I was given a Dream Auto BiPAP set with fixed setting and the Dioctor has increase pressure with increased CA's.
BUT my DME is hesitant to apply for the ASV claiming although already (verbally) approved by my Insurance, it would be denied by their Billing Dept.
So here I am with 96 Centrals out of 116 events with AHI of12.1 !
Pugsy,, How do I link to prior posting?

post the url of the previous thread.
the easiest way, of course, is to quit making a new thread for every random though, just stick to one, that way people can scroll back up and look at what's gone on before.

What percentage of the centrals are always after 4am? I used to get the same results but they went away over time.

The DME needs to get off his lazy ass and file the paperwork for the ASV that your doctor has already ordered.
It isn't the DME's place to decide beforehand what the insurance is going to do and then go tell you everything is all hunky dory when it obviously isn't.
His job isn't to evaluate your results...his job is to supply you with what your doctor ordered. His job isn't to decided ahead of time that your insurance won't cover things....that's not his job. His job is to supply what the doctor ordered or at least try.
I would fire his lazy ass.
You are going to continue to get results like this or worse with this machine. It ain't gonna change.

From my DME Yesterday
Good Morning Robert,
Im sending you this early, since I have no time in my schedule today. I see the results you have and am sending the Encore report. And as you can see they do not compare. I see a total AHI of 8.0 and a CA of 4.5. So as we continue, no I will not be petitioning the insurance for an ASV. You do not meet the qualifications for and ASV at this time.
Thank you and have a great day.
Last night's SH
I get to see my sleep doctor tomorrow !!

I don't think you can lower/or control CA. CPAP is mainly for obstructive apnea OA I believe. CA is more like you stop breathing yourself. If you take sleep pills in the night thinking it will help your sleep, don't. Your OA might get more serious and you don't aware of it as your muscle is more relaxed and easier to close the airway.

that's really where you should have put the period, right after the word 'think'.
