Nuance versus P10
Nuance versus P10
I see that many of you use the P10 mask. I had planned to try that one next. I have the N10, and thought the P10 would be nice with the minimal headgear. I'd been alternating between the N10 and the Dreamwear. I thought I loved the Dreamwear, but realized that I'm adjusting it a lot during the night, because I'm so restless. The N10 stayed very secure, but after a few days my nose would feel a bit sore where the upper part touched. So I went into the supplier and asked for the P10. She also showed me the Nuance, which is similar, but is adjustable. And, it has a swivel where the hose comes out of the mask. I wasn't able to get a new mask that day, as medicare has changed it's policy to having to have a new prescription for cpap supplies every year. My appointment with the sleep clinic isn't until the end of August. So, my question is; did any of you try the Nuance before settling on the P10, and if so, what were your reasons? I'd like to know the comparisons before I decide which one to get. Thanks!

Re: Nuance versus P10
I have both, and I prefer the P10.
Mask companies provide free masks to DME'S so they can exchange a mask thar does not work for one that does.
See if they will do this in order to keep your business.
Otherwise, you can use cpap.com's return insurance to find which you prefer, and stick insurance for a spare.
That is what I did.

Can you tell me how they compare? Why you like the P10 better? Thanks.

Re: Nuance versus P10
I actually tried the Nuance when it first came out which was long before the P10 was released.
The nasal pillows themselves are quite nice...I liked them just fine.
At the time I think I was using the Swift FX nasal pillow mask as my primary mask. I wasn't unhappy with it...I just like to try the new masks if they look interesting.
The Nuance is a nice little mask but I have this personal preference for having the least amount of "stuff" on my face and head as possible and still be comfortable and get the job done.
The headgear on the Nuance was comfortable enough but there's simply more of it...so more "stuff" on my face and head and that was the main reason it didn't become my primary mask.
Then the P10 was released...even less headgear so less "stuff" on my face and head.
Yes, the Nuance is probably going to offer more adjustability with the headgear than the P10 but the P10 is adjustable enough to suit my needs. The Nuance (and the Swift FX) also probably are a tad bit more stable than the P10 but for me instability has never really been a problem and when we go back to one my main preferences "as little as possible on my face and head"...the Nuance headgear presence didn't suit my preferences as much as the Swift FX and then the P10 when it was released.
Now other people are quite happy with the larger footprint of the headgear and they like might value stability over "less on the face"...and there's nothing wrong with it.
Now if I could have those nice cushy gel nasal pillows with my next to nothing P10 headgear..might be something really nice to use.
I really liked the nasal pillow part...it was the headgear that was a turn off for me and mainly just because there was more to it. It was certainly comfortable enough.
I think I used the Nuance for 2 or 3 weeks but in the end the lure of less headgear won out.
I think how you might feel about either is going to depend on your own personal preferences and needs.
The P10 is adjustable...just maybe not as adjustable as the other nasal pillow masks headgear.
For me though...I don't need it to do anything that it doesn't already do for me....plus it is pretty much totally silent in terms of vent noise....that part beats the Nuance hands down.
So if you want quiet venting and a venting system that you have to have your hand about an inch from the vent holes....the P10 is the one to try.

Re: Nuance versus P10
I think you will like the P10 because I do, second choice is the swift fx.
I have been using the p10 for the last 8 months with reasonable results- the mask comes with 3 nasal pillows and the way I fitted my mask pillows was by looking in the mirror holding the pillow that fit the best to my nasal passages.
Their are two p10 masks for her and him, mainly colour coded- pink for her.( I think their is a extra small size nasal pillow for her when you get the mask package.)

Re: Nuance versus P10
Just a follow-up to my original topic. I got a P10 for her on eBay, and I've used it for a few nights so far. I really love it! The pillows seems to fit so much better than the Nuance. And, the way it's designed, it doesn't seem to move when I turn from side to side. The actual pillows part do not touch the bed pillow at all. The headgear is very comfortable and seems to stay put too. When I was using the Dreamwear mask, the headgear would ride up on the back of my head. I guess the back of my head is too flat! Anyway, this mask is great, and I thank those of you who recommended it.
