Do i have a problem
Do i have a problem
I've not been diagnosed. But went to Dr. He told me to get a sleep test done. I never did. Things are getting bad. Sleeping at the wheel. During sexual performance. Etc... But it's causing problems now. What to do?
Re: Do i have a problem
Duh do what the doctor told you to do but you ignored! Get a sleep test!

I'd say, pray that when you fall asleep and wreck your vehicle, that you only kill yourself and not innocent people not involved in your stupidity.Atv wrote:I've not been diagnosed. Yes I would say you have a big problem! Please stop driving and get some one to take you for a sleep test before something terrible happens.Atv wrote:I've not been diagnosed. Re: Do i have a problem
Thanks everyone. I was looking to talk to someone about it. Maybe someone else been there too. But thanks for making me feel like a peice of s_ _ _ instead. I did contact For a study and I'll schedule as soon as I hear back. And I don't drive that way. I pull over as soon as the feeling comes on. So thanks for the nice encouraging words.

Not really sure you were hoping for. You said yo were falling asleep at the wheel, having problems, and asked what to do.
Stop driving and get a sleep study seems like the best advice. Were you hoping for something else?

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
Re: Do i have a problem
The trouble is that a day may come when you're not conscious of the feeling 'coming on', when you don't realize you're drifting off, and next thing you know a little kid has run out in front of you and it'll just be too late. We're not being mean, just real.
Re: Do i have a problem
There are a few here who seem to go out of their way to be antagonistic and are overly critical of people who may just need some support and encouragement. Sometimes I am left shaking my head. This is supposed to be a place where folks should feel comfortable asking any question without worrying about how their questions will be received.Julie wrote:The trouble is that a day may come when you're not conscious of the feeling 'coming on', when you don't realize you're drifting off, and next thing you know a little kid has run out in front of you and it'll just be too late. Don't let some here keep you from visiting this site again. Like any other forum/message board, there are some who are not supportive. But, there are many here who do want to help you. I am new here and I have received a lot of good advice and suggestions.Atv wrote:Thanks everyone. I was looking to talk to someone about it. Maybe someone else been there too. Once you receive your sleep results, you may be advised to use a CPAP or similar machine. You may need some guidance and peer support. Please feel free to check in with us again.
All the best with your sleep study. Stay safe.

Re: Do i have a problem
you don't need 'nice encouraging words', you need a swift slap upside the head to get you motivated to quit killing yourself... someday, perhaps you'll recognize that fact, and look back and say a word of thanks to the people here who told you the facts.Atv wrote:So thanks for the nice encouraging words.

no, this is a place where you come to get the best advice, if someone wants their feelings coddled, then go to apneaboard, where feelings are more important that accuracy and facts.TeddyBfan wrote:. sometimes the *best* advice isn't pretty, or gentle.

Re: Do i have a problem
There are many ways to give advice. The poster did not ask to be coddled -- you just read it that way. It does not take much to give "best" advice without being a jerk. But you clearly do not know any other way, so carry on...palerider wrote:no, this is a place where you come to get the best advice, if someone wants their feelings coddled, then go to apneaboard, where feelings are more important that accuracy and facts.TeddyBfan wrote:. Re: Do i have a problem
When someone posts that they know they have a problem and ducked a sleep test that would be one thing. The reactions are usually pretty calm. When they add that they have been knowingly driving impaired because of it, putting other people in danger, the initial reaction is a bit different. Pulling over before you actually go to sleep only marginally helps. Well before that point your reflexes and concentration decline significantly. Obviously the soft sell didn't work or they would have done the sleep study.TeddyBfan wrote:There are a few here who seem to go out of their way to be antagonistic and are overly critical of people who may just need some support and encouragement. I would also add that I doubt if I am the only person on this forum that has lost friends and relatives to traffic accidents. The last was a close friend that was tired going into work last Winter. He went off the shoulder on the freeway and rolled the car into a bridge abutment. He died instantly. So yeah some people react to different things.
