Does anyone else get these weird pulse spikes in spO2 data?

Post by icipher » Wed Jul 06, 2016 6:34 am

Was blown out of sleep last night about an hour after going to bed with a racing heart and sense of doom/confusion. Looking at my sleepyhead report, there were no events at the time this happened.

Is this ok?

See the sudden dramatic surge in heart rate from about 60 to 130 bpm. I was awake for a minute or two after this, then put my mask back on and fell asleep immediately, and then my oxygen kept bouncing up and down for some reason.

FYI I have had some heart evaluations in the past three years, each telling me I am healthy.

I would get a fourth. The 'sense of doom' is well known to accompany serious heart 'events' and if you need to change MDs then do it. Maybe nothing's wrong, but what if it is?

Hi Julie,

In the past three years I've had an echo-cardiogram, 7 day holter monitor, and an exercise stress test. Additionally, I've seen a neurologist, and had an MRI of my head after CSA diagnosis. Nothing has caused concern from what they've gathered. I feel like going back and spending more money at this point might be somewhat redundant.

I am trying to better understand if this type of spike is normal. I realize it's not normal to be woken up in a panic over it, but I don't know what to do at this point as the cardiologists and neurologists don't seem to be able to help.

A guess would be that you experienced a random PVC. At times they can be hard to record because of their randomness.

Have a spinach salad for lunch for a week (a good source of magnesium) and see if things change.
