Sleep Debt
HI All
Been on CPAP since MArch and had my pressure increased at start of June which brought my AHI to between 0.5-2.5 ish from 58.4 still feeling tired and falling asleep some days at my desk any other ideas what it could be or does it really just take that long to pay off sleep debt
dr has already done Thyroid, Mono and low iron test

Re: Sleep Debt
There's really no definitive answer to that. It's an individual thing and depends alot on how effective the therapy is.....including how much sleep a person gets to try to pay it off.sleepsound85 wrote:HI All

If your therapy is not effective.......insufficient pressure, possible susceptibility to pressure changes disturbing sleep, too much leakage (mouth/mask), getting enough sleep, etc., etc., etc........it can take a very long time.

What are your pressure settings? If you're using a wide-open pressure range, you need to tweak that.sleepsound85 wrote:Yeh been getting at least 7-9 hours of sleep and i know the cpa part is working as my numbers from testing was 58.5 first month was between 8-10 AHI now around 0.5-2.5Wulfman... wrote:There's really no definitive answer to that. Do you have the clinical manual for your machine? You can download it with this link.

You should also start using Sleepyhead software to get a better picture of what's happening during the night.

I think the machine is dong well given the numbers but just cant figure out why still so tired ???
Re: Sleep Debt
Sometimes you need to look at other factors also. It could be a combo of several things. For me, other than having severe OSA, I also had massive vitamin B and vitamin D deficiencies whose symptoms include depression, fatigue, and many others. Also, turn to exercise to get the blood flowing. Tackle different avenues to accommodate the sleep apnea therapy.sleepsound85 wrote:Pressure is set to Smart ramp of 8.0 and then between 10-16 looks like average during night is 11 and not sure as some nigth i even get 0.5AHI but still tired during day so kinda confusedWulfman... wrote:What are your pressure settings? Re: Sleep Debt
Well, for one thing, you're very early into your therapy. Many of us saw gradual improvements and over many months.sleepsound85 wrote: Pressure is set to Smart ramp of 8.0 and then between 10-16 looks like average during night is 11 and not sure as some nigth i even get 0.5AHI but still tired during day so kinda confused

Look at your nightly data and see how much pressure fluctuation there is. How high your pressure goes and what types of events you're having.......Flow Limitations, Snores, Hypopneas and Apneas.
Your AHI numbers are good, but if you're being bumped out of your needed (deeper) sleep stages, it will keep you in lighter sleep stages.......leaving you feeling unrested. Also, in the lighter sleep stages, the person may not have as many AHI events.

Re: Sleep Debt
Do you take any medications of any kind? If so what are they?
Do you wake often during the night? If so, about how many times and any idea why?

yes as in alcohol like after work have a beer etc and yes baby is okay just wakes up during middle of night bad dream or something wife is to tired to get her to go back to sleep so she ends up in bed we have talked to many other people with babies same age and they are all going through same thing
Re: Sleep Debt
I asked about the baby not knowing if you were the mother and possibly had been drinking while pregnant.
