Alternative to Breath Rite Strips?

I found the link to this product while doing a search for nasal congestion remedies on Amazon.com

They work differently from Breath Rite Strips by placing one strip on the cheek next to the nostril as an alternative way of opening the nasal passage. If the strip is placed correctly, the gravity generated will pull open the nasal passage.

I am tempted to try it since the cost is $10.99 but I wonder if it sounds too good to be true. Anybody tried these and if so, what has been your experience?

Hmmm, this looks easy enough to approximate by taking scissors to a fabric bandage strip.
If the pad were removed, it could be replaced with a longer piece of facial tissue.
Zero cost test. The concept makes sense, as butterfly band aids work very well,
---just too small for a cheek stretch.

The frog's suggestion is very good and perhaps even better than the strips as marketed. A longer length to attach the other end closer to the ear lobes might actually work even better in concept.

Might be a problem using Stuffy Nose Strips with a full face mask, however, nasal pillows and nasal masks would probably be okay.

I use Snore-pins (a nasal dilator the works INSIDE the nose). I've used them for years and like them a lot.

They can be tricky to fit comfortably and securely, so PM me if you run into problems, I've got years of experience with them. They also last for about a year and often a lot longer
LATER EDIT: If your nasal restriction problems are up past the maxillary sinuses then no nasal dilator will help much.

I am glad you are having success with the snore-pins. I purchased something similar due to a 90 day money back guarantee but I think the Breath Rite Strips have been somewhat more effective and comfortable to wear underneath my elan mask.

The guy who developed Breathe Rite Strips (he's a local) went through the FDA process to prove that his strips worked. I don't see any evidence for that on these. Are their claims supported by anything but their advertising?

Exactly. If I look in a mirror when turning the machine on, the nostrils can be seen inflating.

Those work. But they interfere with nasal pillows, and as already stated, if you use nasal pillows, the nostrils will get inflated by the air pressure.

Yes. Same effect for me with Swift LT ... but unfortunately, 49er doesn't use nasal pillows.

Hmmm ... I just did a search for DreamWear.com and I can understand how another part of your anatomy might get inflated but I don't quite understand how your nostrils get inflated? What product category do you use?

I see they are located on Madison Ave in New York ... I suspect you support your local businesses eh.

I am not aware that there would be any medical benefit to my wearing anything besides my DreamWear mask to bed.

And Philips Respironics has my permission to make that their new advertising slogan should they choose to do so.

They're probably marginally effective if you are doing heavy athletics but I have used them for many years every night for sleep. I can tell the difference as soon as I put one on. It's not a huge change but it does make a difference. I buy them in bulk on eBay so the cost is reasonable.

I found out that my full face mask does not like them at all so I haven't used one since shortly after I started using the APAP machine.
