Wonder what it'll take to get the insurance companies to pony up for the added cost? Also, the major DME's can barely get mass-production mask to fit someone, wonder how they will cope with a new technology like this?
hmm, custom masks in the future?

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: hmm, custom masks in the future?
I think this technology could cut the major DME's out of the equation. The doctor would do the scan and email it to the factory and the patient would receive the device at his doorstep.Sir NoddinOff wrote:SleepyEyes mentioned this link last October and it's worth repeating now... looks interesting:

Re: hmm, custom masks in the future?
I don't see what the big deal is about custom-fitted nasal masks. I've used two types of nasal pillows and one nasal mask, and there was no problem with fit, leak and comfort. Easy.
I'm using a FFM now. That was easy to fit, but it took some tries to get the headgear adjusted properly. Still, not a big deal that would cause me to pay extra for anything custom fitted.
I think they are going to find out that people who can't deal with off-the-shelf nasal masks will have the same problems with custom-fitted.

I would pay extra for a perfectly fitting full face mask.
Re: hmm, custom masks in the future?
It looks like you will have to go to a doctor that has signed up with them and has their equipment to produce the scan that they will use to create the mask.
Hopefully, they will fix a total price for the entire process from scanning through printing and delivery of the mask.
My wild ass guess is that it will cost three times the cost of an equivalent Resmed or Respironics mask of the same type but it could go as high as four or five times the cost, I think. And for people who are unable to find a commercial mask that fits, it could well be worth that price.
But, hey, maybe everyone will be using an Airing by then and there won't BE any cpap machines or masks! ROTFLMAO!

But, let them try. You never know what useful and unexpected things might be discovered.

Pffft!
I'll wait til they start offering custom throats and bypass the whole positive pressure system completely.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
