Confused about new REMstar AUTO 560

Post by Snoozeless » Thu Jun 09, 2016 4:56 am

I just got my new REMstar AUTO 560 today. I had a Sleepstyle, but it didn't offer me any data analysis and I think I am having some sort of episode around 4:00AM. My insurance covers none of this, so I bit the bullet and bought the REMstar AUTO 560. I notice they have it set at CFLEX+. Does this mean that the machine is set to the CPAP function and is not going to function as auto? Am I making sense? Sorry for the dumb question. My reason for getting this besides the data, is in case something is happening at REM that wakes me up and I can't go back to sleep. I was hoping the auto would correct whatever it is. I am probably getting less than 5 hours of sleep on work nights. I have only been on CPAP therapy since December and have tried 4 different masks and now a second machine. The mask I am finally able to tolerate the most is the dreamwear.

C flex is more or less the same as EPR on other machines - an exhalation pressure relief feature and not related to mode (C vs Apap). It's up to you to set it at any level if you feel you need it, but otherwise can turn it off altogether.

What I'm trying to figure out is if they have set it to CPAP or auto. I thought maybe the CFLEX+ was an indication that it's set to CPAP.

Newbie also using a 560.

I always thought when your on cflex+ it means your on cpap mode while when your on alfex+ your on apap mode.

Or vice versa, when your on apap mode, you can only choose aflex+ and so forth and so on...

Please correct me guys.

Thanks.

While we normally think of AFlex for APAP/Auto mode for exhale relief I think...stress the think part that CFlex + might be a choice available in auto mode...I can't remember for sure.
But to make absolutely sure go into the clinical menu to see which mode of operation it is showing.
Do you know how to do that?
Do you have the provider/clinical manual for the machine?
Not the user manual because it won't tell you.

If not, go here and request the manual. Instructions on how to request the manual are about 2/3 down the page
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual

and here is the short version quick setup guide but do request the manual as it offers much more detail as to what your new machine will do.

I'm going to order that Thanks!

It was my first night with the machine. The Dream mapper software is not working, but my AHI was .7!!

I had sent an email to customer service where I ordered it. They confirmed that they did set it to CPAP but also sent me the Clinicians Manual.

That's great.

When I ordered mine online, it came with both the patient and clinicians manual at the onset.

I dunno if they made a mistake or they just don't double check before sending out. I was told by the CSR before that I had to call them to ask for the instructions on how to access the clinicians menu.

I bet that was a boo boo, them sending you that. But great they saved you the pain of hunting it down!

I was so excited to finally get to load my data into Sleepyhead! Oddly enough exactly at 4 AM is when I had my only OSA event. I have been waking up at 4 AM for weeks!

Your absolutely correct. I popped out the manual again and this appears on the first page:

Normally online retail sellers don't remove the clinician manual when they send out new machines.
The warning is mainly for brick and mortar DMEs who are supplying the equipment personally face to face.
Online sellers don't have a dog in the fight as to if the patient should have access to the ultra secret menu.
Brick and mortar DMEs want to keep us in the dark...online sellers already know that we can't be kept in the dark and they wouldn't want us to be in the dark anyway.
