Can anyone tell me how to change the pressure settings on this type of APAP? I guess I'm asking for the therapy setup menu. This is the older PR system one that is not a series 60 and does not have bluetooth. It is an auto REMstar with A-Flex (whatever that is).
My Story: I have been away from this forum for almost 5 years because I lost 70 lbs (26% of my body weight) and then found I didn't need to use my CPAP/APAP anymore. But now I have gained back almost half the lost weight and I am noticing some sleep distress. I want to go back to using an APAP machine, and of the working units I have, the newest is this REMstar PR System One but I don't have a therapy setup menu to set the pressure. I didn't buy this unit, I inherited it, so I don't know where to get that info except hopefully here.

PR System One REMstar Auto CPAP with A-Flex ?

The trick to getting into the clinical setup menu is the same for both the 50 series (which is what it sounds like you have) and the 60 series with or without the heated hose.

If it is a M series or older...different way of getting there.
Turn over the blower unit and look for a 3 digit model number...may have DS or REF in front or behind the 3 digits....if it is a System One machine it will be with 550 or 560 or maybe 551 or 561 (the 1 means outside the US).

You're a good poster child for not stopping CPAP without a test to confirm that sleep apnea is resolved by weight loss.
And perhaps you would not have regained the weight if you hadn't stopped treatment? I firmly believe that OSA drives the hormones that cause obesity much more than obesity causes OSA, though they both create a vicious cycle.

Pugsy, thank you for the link. My unit is a 550 so the System One info should work.Pugsy wrote:The trick to getting into the clinical setup menu is the same for both the 50 series (which is what it sounds like you have) and the 60 series with or without the heated hose.

My other machines include an "M" series and an original REMstar, both of which are fixed pressure. Since I crossed over into auto machines, I don't want to go back. Of my auto units, I also have an original REMstar auto with 7700 hours (I love that one but my wife is using it). Some years ago I bought an F&P Icon. Nice small unit (somewhat complicated controls) that worked well but when I went to try it out recently, it was totally dead (smell of burning electrical parts). So I'm down to the System One 550, I'll see how this works. Thanks again.

Janknitz, yeah, I do agree with that. When I lost all that weight, I still kept using the APAP for quite awhile. I was comfortable using it and kind of addicted to it I think. But I got a serious staph infection in my leg and spent a week in hospital. That was an intense time where using the machine was awkward with all the treatment going on so I stopped using it. When I got out of the hospital, I found I no longer wanted to go "under the mask". Anyway, I slept just fine for a long time (my viewpoint) but I slowly gained weight back. Now, looking at it, I think you are right. If I had continued the APAO therapy, I might not have gained weight.
