Sleepyhead question
Sleepyhead question
So to start, I understand that there is a ton of information on this site about sleepyhead. I have read through a bunch of it. Most of it seems to discuss how to interpret the output of the sleephead data.
How do you use sleepyhead? I assume you download it to the SD card in your machine (mine is the ResMed Airsense 10 Autopressure). You then just pop the SD card in and go? The VA gave me this machine and I have been instructed to take the SD card out and mail it in after 1 month. I am not sure why I need to do this as the Airsense has a data connection, so I assume that the VA can see the logs remotely.
Can I add sleepyhead to the SD card now and remove it before mailing it to the VA? Should I remove any logs? I assume that the best course of action would be to wait until the month is over and I mail in the SD card, then purchase another to use with sleepyhead. I would hate to miss out on a month of data, especially as I try to understand the logs to best configure my machine. I am a data guy by trade and would like to leverage the science of this whole thing to be able to get the best possible results.

Re: Sleepyhead question
There's probably a better place to put these questions? Not sure.
I'm also kind of wondering about the specific procedure for transfer of info. I just downloaded SH to my Mac -- so far so good. The poster above is contemplating downloading it to the SD card? I was thinking you take the SD card out of the machine, put it in an SD reader (which I do not have and I guess I must buy). Do y'all do this every day? Periodically? Am I even on the right track?

Re: Sleepyhead question
When you remove the card to send to the VA, be sure and purchase a new card to go into your machine. If I were you, I would copy the files on the SD card to my computer before sending it off to the VA. Even though I h\use sleepyhead, I maintain a copy of the files on the SD card on my computer. Once I had the files set up, I simply copy the daily file entries over to my computer.

Re: Sleepyhead question
I stand corrected. Seems sleephead goes on my computer, then I leverage the data on the SD card. Sorry, this was not clear in the tutorials I read. My apologies.palerider wrote:ah, no...ganooch wrote:How do you use sleepyhead? I assume you download it to the SD card in your machine (mine is the ResMed Airsense 10 Autopressure).

Re: Sleepyhead question
A word of warning re: your SD card. (Sleepy Head will also give you this warning when you Quit)
Before you insert the SD card into the reader and thus into your computer, slide the little white tab to the locked position, because sometimes some computers reportedly then overwrite the data.
After you've read the data from the previous night (or nights), you then need to slide the tab to the Open Position (or unlocked) and then insert it back into your CPAP machine. That way the data from your sleep can be transferred to the card.
Simple. Just don't forget.

no apologies necessary, that's why I pointed you to a better resource.ganooch wrote:I stand corrected. Seems sleephead goes on my computer, then I leverage the data on the SD card. Sorry, this was not clear in the tutorials I read. My apologies.
if you'd call out the tutorials you read that lead you to the wrong conclusions, it might be possible to get them fixed.

Re: Sleepyhead question
however that's not necessary on your machine, it doesn't care about the extra files that windows 8+ and macos write on the card. only the S9 series from resmed was persnickity.ganooch wrote:Got it, thanks.Coco Pazzo wrote:A word of warning re: your SD card. Re: Sleepyhead question
I'd appreciate it if someone could address my question below. Do you really switch that card back and forth from your machine to your computer and back every day?

Re: Sleepyhead question
No, you do it as often as you want to - but yes, that's the only way to do it for most machines.Violet West wrote:I'd appreciate it if someone could address my question below. Do you really switch that card back and forth from your machine to your computer and back every day?
You might do it every day if you're adjusting pressure settings on a new machine or new mask or something, looking to optimize your results.
You might do it every day or once a week just because you like looking at graphs.
You might do it once a month, or less if everything is going well and you're looking at long term trends.
