pregnancy
any tips for pregnancy and cpap? I use my machine, but I am sleeping badly due to aches and pains and bathroom....
Re: pregnancy
Congratulations on being pregnant. Doesn't sound like a bowl of cherries, sleepwise anyways, right at the moment, but later on things will stabilize. However, even after your pregnancy is over, I expect you'll be having disturbed sleep for different reasons *smile*, at least for a while...The big picture would make me think of staying away from meds as much as possible, but I'm not the one that's doing this *smile*.
I would personally focus on having a mask that I could get on and off easily. Since you're already using a nasal mask, maybe a simple nasal pillow mask like the AirFit P10 or Swift FX would be helpful? I find them both very easy to get on and off with the least disturbance to my sleepiness *smile*. Some people leave their masks on when they get up, I've not done that.
I agree that talking with a sleep doctor would be helpful, as well.

Re: pregnancy
Keep an eye on your AHI and pressure, especially later on in your pregnancy. The hormones that loosen the muscles and joints that allow you to give birth to that big head could cause you to need more pressure.
If you are really concerned pick up a O2 monitor to make sure you have enough O2 for all of you.
Make sure you have a good mattress or get a new mattress pad. Use lots of pillows to keep your spin and pelvis aligned properly.

I have an APAP so it auto adjusts. I will ask them to raise the upper end maybe.

The manuals are online. Get Sleepyhead and monitor your data. You are now responsible for the lives of 2 (or more) people, you need to take the power into your own hands. Your O2 levels are vital to the growth of the fetus. Don't leave that power in the hands of a stranger who couldn't care less about you or your child!catbirdgirl wrote:I have an APAP so it auto adjusts. I will ask them to raise the upper end maybe.

I'm mostly wondering if anyone has tips to help STAY asleep. I constantly use the cpap, dont even nap without it, and this is the first time I have EVER woken up during the night.

Your equipment profile shows you have the card reader for the S8. Is that correct? Are you monitoring your data?catbirdgirl wrote: I constantly use the cpap, dont even nap without it, and this is the first time I have EVER woken up during the night.
What are your machine settings - minimum pressure, maximum pressure, ramp pressure, ramp time?
What is your AHI for a typical night?

If you can look at the data you might get the answer. For all you know you might be having events.catbirdgirl wrote:I'm mostly wondering if anyone has tips to help STAY asleep. I constantly use the cpap, dont even nap without it, and this is the first time I have EVER woken up during the night.

Not sure. And I think that my equipment stuff might be out of date- the mask is. I'll check today when I see the doc.

Re: pregnancy
When you do see your doctor, ask for a summary of what kind of activity/exercise is appropriate for you.
Inactivity can contribute to aches and pains; sometimes even insomnia.

Re: pregnancy
Cpap therapy makes a lot of people more "frisky" so it is quite possible that its use caused the pregnancy!spmccord wrote:I was hoping this wasn't a "CPAP caused my pregnancy" thread!
