After 10 years, MAYBE a mask that works!!!

Post by DeeCPAP » Fri Apr 08, 2016 8:37 pm

After stuggling, literally, with masks for what seems like forever, the DreamWear by Phillips may be working.
I've only used it for two nights, but I'm crossing my fingers! I'm going to check it out with the SleepHead software
but right now, I can move around when I sleep without it leaking.

IF SleepHead shows leaks, I'll use a chinstrap, but at least it's a mask I feel I'm breathing on my own rather
than having air pushed up my nose!

Time will tell...

Does it work with higher pressure, and/or with a BiPAP? Did you have good results with it?

I can't answer your question, HOWEVER, I'm noticing a small leak. My DME only sent me the medium size and NOT
the three sizes that should have come with the mask. Isn't it illegal?

There are two ways that the Dreamwear is sold, "fit pack" or "single size." With the "fit pack" you get a medium frame and all sizes of cushion. With the single size pack, you get, well, you get a single size frame and single size cushion. So you can go back to your DME and tell them that you need the fit pack since the single size pack doesn't work for you. I'm really surprised (I'm naive *smile*) that they wouldn't send you the fit pack in the first place, since you haven't used the mask yet. Incompetence, however, is not unknown in the DME world.

Thanks! I saw a video that showed the fit pack so just emailed my DME stating that I used the instructions that came with
the mask showing how to "size" the cushion and that I should be using a small. I hope they take this into consideration
without charging me extra for a small size even though I'm only mildly frustrated. I still think it's the best mask I've
tried in my 10 years of using (and disliking) the CPAP.

Thanks!

Some dirtbag in the DME office has probably already sold your two other sizes on Craigslist or Ebay.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

These little tricks is why I left my last DME. My last one sold me an entire mask because they didn't have the Amera View cushion. I didn't know my insurance wouldn't pay for it because my doc's office worker who orders the equipment didn't know. Isn't there an organization we can report these DME's to stop it?

The smaller the nose piece the better with the Dreamwear

Thanks. I noticed that occasionally (in fact, very infrequently), I'll hear a hissing sound from the cushion so I know
it's not air tight -- I could tighten the mask, but the best way would be to get a smaller size. Too bad DME's
don't know to send the kit with ALL THREE SIZE cushions.

Thanks!

Setting on the Resmed with Dreamwear - sheesh!

Post by DeeCPAP » Mon Apr 11, 2016 9:32 am

The mask itself is working great, but I called Resmed and Phillips Respironics and neither
of them could say for sure if the setting on the Resmed S9 while using the Dreamwear
should be PILLOW or NASAL. (I just wanted to be certain).

Something's wrong with this picture!!!
