Re: Itchy nose, driving me mad! Any solution?
I have to keep turning down the humidity because the mask keeps having water in it (not too much but it's there) the tickle is from a hair, but it's not there...and as soon as my mask is on I feel it on my nose and in my throat. Just one single moving hair :/

Here are some ways you might reduce or eliminate rainout -FairwayGirl wrote:I have to keep turning down the humidity because the mask keeps having water in it
- Use a hose cover, homemade or purchased - https://www.cpap.com/productSearch.php#::::hose%20cover:
- Place the CPAP unit below the level of the top of your mattress. Rainout in the hose will run back into the humidifier instead of the mask.
- Turn the humidifier level down. (You already knew that. )
- Turn the HVAC thermostat up.
- Use a heated hose.

trim your nose air, the air blows it around.FairwayGirl wrote:I have to keep turning down the humidity because the mask keeps having water in it (not too much but it's there) the tickle is from a hair, but it's not there...and as soon as my mask is on I feel it on my nose and in my throat. I know exactly what you are talking about. I don't think it is actually a hair.
I think your sinus is dry or oversensitive. I get the exact same thing when I have a lot of leaks and the volume gets high. It feels like there is a hair there in your nostril, but you can't find it. I even have a special pair of scissors that I used to try to cut it but it really wasn't there.
Humidity helped me. In addition to the humidity on the machine, I used saline nasal spray when I went to bed. When it was really bad, I would use it throughout the day.
AYR makes a saline gel that you put in your nose. I got a free sample so I tried it. It helped with the itch but the inside of nose felt weird- like it dried and it was slightly sticky.

Re: Itchy nose, driving me mad! Any solution?
I have talked to 4 doctors all who okayed the dose of melatonin. I did try to take a smaller dose first and it never helped. The gabapentin is to increase slow wave sleep. Without either of those I get no sleep at all :/ the itch feels exactly like a hair, which is why I tried a new mask, but it was still there! And as soon as the air is on, I feel the hair on my nose and in my throat. I just feel like I may be going crazy :0 i have burned all of the hair out of my nose attempting to find this stray hair, there is nothing left to be moving around I cannot use any nose spray or I throw up, the second it touches my nose I throw up. I just dropped the humidifier because I have water collecting in my mask, it's not coming out on me anymore, but, there is a fair bit of it in the mask every day when I get up. Upping and lowering the humidifier hasn't seemed to change the hair :/ I do have a heated hose, and it's on the max setting. I'm trying to figure out a way to lower the machine, but haven't yet right now it's even with my bed, but the hose goes to the top of my headboard then back down. I don't have any actual rain outs now, but did before. I live in OK and it's extremely humid here, and we keep it around 70 in the house (WAY too cold for my taste!! But, I sleep with 4 blankets and one heated one!) so very little humidity adds up very, very quickly!
