Auto shutoff on resmed Airsense autoset 10

Post by MARCUSO » Tue Apr 05, 2016 7:42 am

Hi there,
I am a new user to this forum.
I recently went to an assessment and was fitted with an autoset 10 machine.

The loaner machine that they gave me armed to automatically turn off when I took the mask off.

However, the identical model that I actually purchased doesn't seem to do this.

I emailed resmed and they said that they don't offer this kind of support and that I would have to contact my supplier. I contacted the supplier and she said that you have to turn off the machine manually.

Sometimes the nose piece ends up off of my face and I wake up to the air blowing for who knows how long.

My question:

Is there a setting to auto shut off? Was this a fluke thing or is my machine faulty?

Thanks in advance.

This feature can be turned on or off in the provider's menu.
Instructions are in the clinician's manual, not offered to patients except through the Internet. FOR FREE!

Enjoy!
We all agree your DME is a stupid poopyhead.

Yes, to what ChunkyFrog said. Also, I discovered that Autoshutoff does not work correctly if you have EPR set higher than 1.

My EPR is set to 2, and I have to turn mine off manually, even though it turns itself on quite easily.

get the manual that Chunkyfrog recommended, the feature you're looking for is "smartstart" turn it on.

I don't like the noise from the auto shutoff as it takes a few seconds to recognize that you have removed the mask while it's still blowing full force. So I always hit the off button before removing the mask.

The Airsense has this weird sucking sensation when I turn it off with the mask still on--it feels like it creates a vacuum and I always feel like I can't breathe, but just for a second. I don't remember that sensation with the old PRS1.

And I am impressed with the cool down--it continues to blow gently to dry out the mask. With the DreamWear, there's a little condensation in the nose piece and it does a good job of drying that out.

Auto shutoff works fine for me with EPR on 3 and a P10 nasal mask. This is my second machine as the first one had problems and it also would take 5-15 seconds to shut off unlike the current machine. Seems to be hit or miss if the thing shuts off automatically in a short amount of time especially with a nasal mask. With full face or mini-nasal it should work fine.

Autooff seems to be a little bit iffy. It's worse with some masks and some machine settings.

I liked the way auto-off worked on my S8 Auto; it did not record the short large leak. Both my S9 and S10 record the large leak when using auto-off!

my Smartstart is on. But it doesn't turn itself off by itself. weird.

On another note, I wish the light would go off after I turn the machine off. annoying.

I'm having the same issue. will not auto shut off. EPR level is set to 2... anything else I should be checking?

For me, it's not a deal-breaker; but if a person were disabled, it could be a VERY big deal.
Somebody might wish to lodge a complaint with Resmed, but I suspect that is impossible.
