Paypal buyer protection

Post by danielqk » Thu Mar 24, 2016 7:54 pm

If buying cpap machine on this site or craigslist with Paypal, is there any buyer protection ?
Paypal require items should be listed on ebay but cpap is medical equipment!

I think you get buyer protection ONLY if you buy off the e-bay site.

PayPal does offer protection. I've used it once. It was a long, slow process, because they investigated my claim pretty thoroughly but eventually my money was refunded and it wasn't an eBay purchase.

PayPal was owned by eBay but that is no longer the case. PayPal buyer protection works all over.

I have had PayPal refund a couple of times for me after buying on forum websites. Takes a few days, but they have always come through for me. Have had to file disputes on ebay as well.

PayPal works a lot better for the buyer than for the seller;
but NOT using it can keep buyers away. Rock and another rock.

Good info... I've heard the question asked before and always wondered what the deal was. At the very least, it could scare off scam-artists.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I have bought CPAP direct from a person and pay with Paypal.

I buy an auto PR System One model 60 but received a Pro. Lodge a complaint and PayPal helped in solving the problem with the seller.

Do not worry.

If you got it from person posting equipment for sale here at CPAPtalk, don't be shy, name names so nobody else falls for that scam. It's the right thing to do.

I've observed and participated in Paypal transactions for probably at least 8 years or so. (buying vintage audio gear) One thing to remember is, Paypal and their labyrinthian rules are always evolving. What's true today won't necessarily hold true tomorrow where they're concerned. Some sellers I've known were totally screwed over by Paypal due to lying/scheming buyers. Beware and CYA.

Sir NoddinOff: remember a website for CPAP buy and sell hosted by our forum's sponsor.
I dealt with this guy 3 times. I guess it is an honest mistake. The other 2 transaction were great, no problem. Except the last one, when he sent me a wrong device.
And he rectified this by shipping the right one.

Here's an info only link to what Palerider was saying about the PR model 450 Pro. This particular discontinued machine does appear to support usable data compilation.

http://www.directhomemedical.com/pr-sys ... vcMgHqm1SB

Here's the last paragraph in the specs:

"Advanced Event Detection & Reporting-
The System One REMstar PRO tracks many common OSA related events including Hypopneas, Flow Limitation, Respiratory Effort Related Arousal, Snores, and Leaks. In addition the REMstar PRO can detect many symptoms beyond classic OSA -- such as clear airway apneas and periodic breathing -- that may indicate the need for specialized therapy."

ALSO. Though it sounds like cpapernewbie was using an online translator above and the testimony was a bit garbled, it was wisely stated elsewhere that you be sure you really got burned without recourse, that is, before mentioning names and defaming someone's character. I should have mentioned that.

I cancelled a sale today and issued a credit to the buyer .. because the payment did not come through with a verified ship to address ... and that leaves the seller open for a reversal if the buyer claims they did not get the item (cpap).
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Get the Clinicians manual here : http://apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-press ... tup-manual

Hmmm... good to know. It always interesting to get differing internet sales perspectives from BOTH ends of a deal.
Thanks, Grayghost
