Home oxygen concentrator.

Pulmonary / sleep doctor suggested that I try a home oxygen concentrator. For one month I no longer had any headaches. Now I want to purchase a new unit.
I would like some suggestions on what brand you purchased and if you bought it locally or on line where the prices can be a lot less expensive.Some offer a five year warranty and some a three year.

philips everflo q is the best one I've seen because it's energy efficient and the QUIETEST machine I've seen. Most machines are so loud you have to keep them in a different room and run a 50 foot oxygen tube.

A second vote for the EverFlo Q. My aunt was in a rehab facility and was put on O2 while she was there. They had her on an Invacare unit and I was amazed at how loud it was.

the two most likely best models are the everflo q mentioned above, and the invacare perfecto 2

both have oxygen monitors that constantly monitor the oxygen level the machine is making and sound an alarm if the oxygen percentage falls below what it should be.

both are very quiet. there's a perfecto2 running in the next room and all I can hear is a muted 'thump' every few seconds as it cycles. when next to it, you can hear a hum from the air compressor.

either one is a good deal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEGyUHXtUuo the everflo q (make sure you get the q for quiet) is usually more expensive, I think. we got ours from a DME that had an overstock, and we paid about 400$ for one that had never been taken out of the box.

I repaired a different brand recently, to answer your question, it all depends on what's wrong with it, and whether you can get a newer, quieter model for a reasonable price (a few hundred $$)

When you say 'it died' what did it start/stop doing?

The one I repaired had a sticky shifting valve, and wouldn't start up when cold without alarming a half dozen times, till things warmed up a bit. once I rebuilt the valve (no user serviceable parts, hah!) it's been working fine.

Stop assuming (or expecting us to guess at things from here) and talk to the dealer who supplied the equipment.

I will throw my 2 cents worth into the mix, Respironics Everflow Q. When I first purchased this from Amazon I needed it full time and had it sitting less then three feet away, It would not bother me while watching TV! I only use it for sleep now and sometimes leave the house with it running because there is so little noise generated that i dont hear it to remind me to shut it down. My utility bill hardly notices that I have this machine!.

The one I worked on (invacare perfecto2) has a 02 sensor, but the service manual says it takes 5+ minutes before it even starts reading accurately.

22k hours seems low in the sieve beds, but I suppose it's possible. If it's not cycling properly that'll cause issues, as will needing the filers changed (many have a case filter, a hepa filter on the compressor input, and a third filter on the oxygen output.)

You may be able to google up a service manual for it, and see if there's some diagnostic lights on the inside, for instance.
