I have an asv machine for central sleep apnea
I want to travel but do not want my asv machine to be damaged, lost or stolen on vacation leaving the machine in a hotel room or in the trunk of a car in the summer heat. I also do not trust the TSA not to damage the machine inspecting it.
Is it possible to buy some kind of travel cpap machine to get me through a few days so I can leave my ASV machine at home?

Re: Traveling with ASV machine
There is no travel version of an ASV.
Don't worry about the TSA. They know the machines, they see them hourly. Put each piece in a separate plastic ziplock bag. Your machine is allowed as a carryon beyond the normal allowance.
Bring your prescription along with you. Accidents happen. Check your personal insurance to make sure it is covered.
If you feel really uptight, buy a second hand one from craigslist or secondwind.com

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

I've traveled with my ASV a dozen times without issue. Only once did security ask me to take it out of the travel bag. They're pretty used to xPAP and you shouldn't have any problems.

If you don't buy it from a DME, they're not NEARLY that expensiveLancaster wrote:This is a very expensive machine $3700 online.

Re: Traveling with ASV machine
I have traveled with my ASV 3 times in the last 6 months. One of those times was an international trip to Greece. I had no problems, and kept my machine with me at all times. The TSA agents were gently with it and didn't actually touch it. Some times they wanted to see it, other times they never asked me to take it out of the bag. they never actually inspected it, however.

Backup machines are never a bad idea if you can afford that option. That deal by grayghost above is a pretty good price for an ASV with super low hours - virtually new. He is a trusted member.
Grayghost's machine doesn't accept a heated hose but there are inexpensive conversion kits around that will adapt that machine to a regular PR heated hose. I'll have to look for that link... dang, where'd I put that bookmark?

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
