Moderate to Severe Sleep Apnea Polysomnography Report
Hello, I am new to the this board. I am trying to get a example of a Polysomnography Report with someone that has moderate to severe sleep apnea. Of course the report should have personal information omitted. My wife had a sleep study done. We are currently in Japan and we are having a hard time understanding her report as it mostly not in english. The examples on the internet are not any help as they are too generic. Her Physician is a PA and doesn't have a clue. Could someone post an Polysomnography Report and summary?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Is there no way you can get an English translation of the report? Seems hard to believe, though I wouldn't want the Google version!

Re: Moderate to Severe Sleep Apnea Polysomnography Report
There are some excellent Japanese to English dictionaries available for various devices. I would scan the report and use the dictionary to at least get an idea of the words to look for and the numbers associated with them. Start with the summary. Look for the Japanese word suimin. I need to get my dictionary out to look up sleep apnea and write it here. Alternatively, search for a Japanese medical translator who might be able to help - for a fee, of course. Good luck. I know from personal experience that it is not easy for a gaining to get medical help.

We are living in Japan. My wife is had a sleep study and a few other test in a Japanese hospital. She is epileptic as well. The report is in Kanji. The doctor spoke pretty good English, but he did not really go over the test.
Thanks for the links.

@Sleepy, thanks. I can speak conversational Japanese, but reading Kanji is a whole other thing. We had a Japanese friend look at it, but since he is not in the medical career field he didn't quite know how to interpret it.

I did a so more research and sent it to another Japanese friend. He sent me the information below. I understand some of it, but is this light, moderate, or severe obstructive sleep apnea? How many apnea events total did she have. What was the apnea index per hour? What was the hypnea + hyponea ?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Moderate to Severe Sleep Apnea Polysomnography Report
I think that 22 is 'moderate'lionfamlee wrote: is this light, moderate, or severe obstructive sleep apnea? How many apnea events total did she have. What was the apnea index per hour? What was the hypnea + hyponea ?
Supine Non-Supine Total Wake REM NREM Total
A/H Index 21.5 23.1 22.0
Total A + H 81 37 118
Obstructive Apnea 35 5 40
Central Apnea 0 0 0
Mixed Apnea 0 0 0
Hyponea 46 32 78
REM A+ H 10 0 10
40
22 is the AHI. it's an average of number of events divided by hours slept.
"hypnea + hyponea" do you mean "hypopnea+apnea" just what it says, you add the hypopneas and the apneas together to get a total.
