Can someone please enlighten me?
you'd have access to data that looks like this:

able to zoom in and see your individual breaths.

I was lucky with my original prescribed settings being ideal for most of the time. I do increase my minimum when I am suffering from a cough.

But my mom did not have such a great experience. Back when I started therapy, my mom was on her 3rd machine, still no data. She commented that she never felt like it helped that much. So, after I had my 6 week followup with my sleep doctor, I let her use my machine for half a night. I set my machine for a straight pressure of 10, which was her prescribed pressure. The onscreen ahi was 3.4 which sounds decent to a doctor (most of us don't feel better until under 2). But when I looked at the data? Whoa!!

She had a cluster of events, 8 of them in less than 10 minutes, all 30 seconds or longer, one over a minute long. Her oxygen was probably very low during that time. I printed the report before going to bed (and using my machine). A few nights later, we did another partial night, this time set at 10-13. We took both reports to the sleep doctor who prescribed a new machine with full data and 10-15 setting. She is much happier with her machine as she feels better now.

Sometimes, you need to look at more than ahi. You need to see how long the events are, and if they are clustered together.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
