it prevents people complaining after they toasted their humidifier by slopping water into it while filling the tank without removing it as directed.

fortunately, no, I always took the tank out. but it DOES say to remove the tank, possibly on the tank, definitely in the manual.

I am in the camp that says get the Autoset and set it for straight CPAP if that is what works for you.
You never know what might change over the course of the 5 year life of the machine.
Being able to self titrate rather than do a sleep study is certainly worth the extra few dollars for the auto.

Not sure what medicare guidelines are for replacing a machine time wise ?
so far i have used 2 m series auto's , 1 bi pap which was not right for me. self titrated all which was not appreciated by the cpap police.
since being on the S9 Elite for 3 years it has definitely improved quality of life.
Like most that frequent here, we just can't help tweeking , studying data wanting to improve our treatment. Who else is a better advocate than who straps up each night .
Just feel blessed to have started when i did thanks to the better half telling me about not breathing when the snoring stops & then gasping for air
