Re: help understand the charts on sleepy head
This is no longer entirely true. I do believe that the timed ramps of most machines don't provide much in the way of comfort as the steadily progressing pressure would seem to rush you. Also I am sure I could get used to the high pressures when falling asleep, but the autoramp feature of the Airsense 10 makes it possible to set the ramp pressure and ramp-only EPR so that there is virtually no change in the way you breath from before you put the mask on to after you put it on. It makes for an extremely comfortable falling asleep experience. I would never switch to not using it.ChicagoGranny wrote: The ramp is for people who can't tolerate a high pressure when they first start at the beginning of the night. Many of us started out using the ramp but now don't because we have no problems tolerating the pressure.

Seriously, it's good to keep a check on your statistics because things can change as time goes along, and you might need to make some adjustments at some point.
Also, as you do some reading in the forum, you may eventually want to put the Auto Pap feature (wiki/index.php/AutoPAP) to use. But, as well as you are doing now, there is no need to worry about it.

Re: help understand the charts on sleepy head
While your machine is an autoset it is set to CPAP mode. The 6 is a Ramp starting pressure which slowly increases to your fixed pressure of 12cm and that pressure stays the same all night. How rapidly the ramp increases depends on the time it is set for.C/O_Guy wrote:yes it is auto set and was default to 6 to 12 on auto I have hade it change befor I feel asleep I feel great now that I have started therapy I wake up full of energy I sleep solid through the night notice I am dreaming and get more done at work now that I'm alert as you can tell by my username I am a corrections officer for a state prison
Do you have a copy of your Sleep Study and Prescription? If not you need to request a copy to have on hand and know what your results and prescribed pressures are.
Here is a link to the Clinical Manual for your machine. https://sleep.tnet.com/home/files/resme ... -guide.pdf

I don't use ramp because I want to check my mask leak at my high pressure before I fall asleep. Falling asleep is easy for me.WindCpap wrote:It makes for an extremely comfortable falling asleep experience. I would never switch to not using it.

Re: help understand the charts on sleepy head
It doesn't matter now. You have a great machine, Sleepyhead software and a support group. You can control your own therapy and not rely on medical professionals.C/O_Guy wrote:I know I was presciped at 12cm when I did my study I has a AHI of 23 and they came in and put me on the cpap at 2 am I had a split study at a sleep center
Re: help understand the charts on sleepy head
I have noticed once it goes to 12 I feel I have a leak at the top of the nose area of my mask but cant ever feel it but hear it also at the elbow there seems to be lots of air pressure

Autoramp doesn't slowly increase. It increases 1 cmH20 per minute after it detects you have nearly fallen asleep.OkyDoky wrote: While your machine is an autoset it is set to CPAP mode. The 6 is a Ramp starting pressure which slowly increases

The ramp is not just for people who can't tolerate a high pressure. It is also for people who prefer to start at a lower pressure, and perhaps a higher epr level. This is why I said that it was not entirely true, instead of saying it was untrue.ChicagoGranny wrote: The ramp is for people who can't tolerate a high pressure
Re: help understand the charts on sleepy head
The leak at the elbow is the vent. It is supposed to flow air.C/O_Guy wrote:I have noticed once it goes to 12 I feel I have a leak at the top of the nose area of my mask but cant ever feel it but hear it also at the elbow there seems to be lots of air pressure
Re: help understand the charts on sleepy head
