DreamStation
Greetings,
Is there a DreamStation masterthread?
If it already exists, please direct me there.
Otherwise, let's start one!
(tips, hacks, etc.)

Re: DreamStation
tip: it's not supported by the released versions of sleepyhead, only dev so far, have to compile your own, or use encore *spit*

Re: DreamStation
Thanks, perhaps I'm naive, but why does it matter if not supported by SleepyHead?

No. There are basically no subcategories on the forum........just one main one. But, if you go up to the Search line and put in "DreamStation" there should be lots of discussions to read.California1849 wrote:Greetings,

Re: DreamStation
Thank you for your reply.
I'm a newbie, though (I hope and think I am) learning quickly.
The lack of information is supremely frustrating.
I cannot post all I've learned, but it seems like there's a better way.
Venting a bit, and also want to share and learn.

Re: DreamStation
it's the best (in many people's opinion) way to examine the incredible amount of data that cpaps collect during the night. (resmed machines, for instance, sample the airflow and pressure 25 times a second, I'm not sure what it is for respironics).California1849 wrote:Thanks, perhaps I'm naive, but why does it matter if not supported by SleepyHead?
what kind of 'tips' or 'hacks' are you looking for?
frankly, I've not seen anything I'd consider a hack for any cpap (beyond "here's how you get into the clinical menu"), though I'd love to see some. I've disassembled a number of 'em, and they're all computer controlled, but I've never heard anything about anybody trying to dump the roms on one of 'em.
nothing much in the way of machine specific tips, either.
now, tuning the machines to optimize them for your individual needs, that's a whole different story, but it's not very machine specific.

Re: DreamStation
Since I'm not on that machine, do you get oximeter data?
The DreamStation offers an oximeter, though I've tried and tried to purchase one, to no avail.
It'd be great to double-check and see if the Philips machine actually delivers. But so far, I haven't found a way to do so...

Re: DreamStation
no cpap comes with an oximeter. there's a *ridiculously* expensive add-on for some resprironics machines, and newer resmed machines. frankly, it's a waste of money.California1849 wrote:Since I'm not on that machine, do you get oximeter data?

pick up a contec cms50F or cms50I wrist mounted unit, either one's under 100$ from aliexpress.com and there's other places they can be found. once the next release of SleepyHead comes out, you can import the data from your machine, and then import the data from the oximeter, and SH will combine them, and if you want to go all out, you can pick up a deskside zeo from ebay... and get data like this:

what do you mean "actually delivers"?

Re: DreamStation
In terms of "actually delivers" I'm simply trying to find an independent (i.e. oximeter) record of what happens during the night. Yes, the machine might say my AHI is <2, but how do I know that's accurate?
The DreamStation reports certain data -- it may or may not be correct.
Thank you for the recommendation for the oximeter. It seems challenging to find an all-night recording device, but I will follow-up on your suggestion...thanks!

Re: DreamStation
when you get either encore *spit* or sleepyhead, and read the data, you can zoom in on the breathing flow, and and verify for yourself (the machines are very accurate) how many apneas you've had with the machine. Oximeters are not a good measure of the effectiveness of cpap treatment.California1849 wrote:In terms of "actually delivers" I'm simply trying to find an independent (i.e. oximeter) record of what happens during the night. contec makes several recording oximeters, you can even get them from amazon, though they'll cost more than from aliexpress.
the 50d+ which records one night, and has no timestamp, and eats AAA batteries (about 3 nights use per set). the E, (rechargeable but finger mounted like the D+) the F and I models, both wrist mounted, the F has timestamped data, and the I records multiple nights so you don't have to download the data every day. there are more expensive models also, but I've no experience with them... the 50I that I have does all I need.
